Exactly, since these don't require a battery it (batteries) will never corrode and always be ready to go to get you a base line for voltage when in need.

$25 in my area (AZ) under a different lowes sku, none with the listing sku of 1003262014.

Home depot is showing ~$20 with free ship to store (not stocked in this area apparently). A bit less on e-bay.
