Isn't a clamping voltage of 500v considered a bit too high?

Geez - RJ11 jacks?!? No wonder they're trying to clear them out. So glad we're long past the days where someone picking up the phone in another room would ruin my hours-long download just as it was finishing.

I bought one of these last year and it failed. There was no damage to my appliances, but the surge protector was dead and would not power anything plugged in. I sent it back to Belkin and they're supposed to send me a new one, but I have not received it yet. I ordered the last APC that I saw on SD and I have that in the place of the Belkin. Not sure I'll trust a Belkin for anything important again.

The Belkins I've bought from Amazon have all had short life spans. The ones I've bought from Staples have been fine.

Also, I also had the same issue with Amazon and a pair of APC P11U2's that I bought a month apart compared to versions I got from Home Depot just didn't last as long as the ones from Home Depot.

I've had similar issues with some extension cords from Yellow Jacket. The 12/3 cords from Amazon have had 1 of the 3 female receptacles go bad fairly quickly from Amazon. But the HD versions have held up fine.

These are obviously not a common issue, or reviews would reflect it, but I stopped buying surge protectors and extension cords from Amazon. I'm either extremely unlucky, or ... I dunno? Lol.

Amazon over the years has gotten a bad reputation on electronics and food items versus buying same things from local places. Whether it's a fake or it fails, my guess is it has to do with places selling their 'rejects' 'QC fails' 'returns' and maybe just overall storage conditions in the Amazon facilities. In any case, probably better to stick to local if this will be used to cover anything worthwhile.

Doesn't this mean it actually worked?

The overall quality of electronics has been on the decline for a couple decades and totally taken a plunge off the cliff the last few years alone. I have some Belkin surge protectors that have been working flawlessly for 15-20 years now. Get older stuff if you can.

I've used this since January 2017 and was $14 then. Has worked well so hopefully this is part of the old stuff. Like another post said, even has RJ11 LOL.
