How do I get $7.65?

Vinegar is sold in PET bottles, so therefore I don't see how it poses harm. The plastic in your machine is a lot stronger polymer than PET.
HDPE is more impact resistant (flexible) but less chemical resistant than PET.
I've never seen a gallon jug of vinegar sold in anything but HDPE.
I learned this long ago working with flavorings. The corrosive ones like citrus for example will eat an HDPE bottle, yet perfectly fine in PET.
I asked the manager if they'll match and he said no.

Also vinegar comes in plastic bottles! As well as bleach.
