I was able to include all of my stock trade info (incl. Dividends) in Deluxe just fine this year.

There was no code, it just popped up. May be account specific. Attached a screenshot.

Not true. Just downloaded the 2022 Deluxe and am able to do rentals same as last year. I have 2 rental properties I have been doing with TT and HR for years and never needed more than the Deluxe version. Of course they will tell you to choose Premium if you rentals but all they do is some 'advanced' deduction finding which is really BS.

Here's another factoid that I found out about the slimeballs in NY State gov't. If you are a State employee with a pension AND you move OUT of the state....you STILL have to pay taxes to NY State on your pension income!! WTF!
You seem confused about NYS pensions. They are a post-tax state contribution but a pre-tax federal contribution.

A pension is subject to federal income tax but not NYS tax. If you move to another state, that state might tax pensions even if you made pre-tax contributions to NYS. It is not an extra charge by NY but a income tax to the state you live in.

This is why many retire in states without income tax. There are also a few states with income tax that do not tax NYS pensions,

This deal is for the download version. Not the online.

I know there's been various other deals/threads, but I didn't see it directly answered when I was skimming them. So the download or key card version of Deluxe does cover these forms, but the online cloud version does not?

Edit: Pretty sure stocks/dividends are covered from reading other threads

My search suggests the online 2022 Premium version is necessary for several important forms:
  • Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses
  • Form 8949 Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets
  • Schedule E Rents, Royalties, Partnerships, Etc
  • Form 8582 Passive Activity Loss Limitations
Deluxe: https://www.hrblock.com/pdf/HRB-O...deluxe.pdf [hrblock.com]
Premium: https://www.hrblock.com/pdf/HRB-O...remium.pdf [hrblock.com]
For whatever reason, the downloaded version of tax software has for many years had slightly different forms available than the (slightly more limited) online versions.
I think this is not unique to just H&R Block, but was true also for some other brands of tax software (though it may not be true anymore).

Yeah it's good especially for us folks on older tiers.

Back to this deal. I paid $15 last year. You think this is the best deal I will get before taxes are due?
It may get lower into the $15 range, as it has done in prior years or stay in the same range. Maybe you'll get lucky and other SD'er out there will offer up their download links and Not-Used uses of their Federal Free File Product Key.

H&R Block allows everyone who buys this software the ability to Federally E-File FIVE (5) times using the product key. This product key is NOT tied to anyone's tax return. It is ONLY used to count the number of times someone has pushed through a Federal Return via e-File, through H&R Block's servers. Again, H&R Block allows up to FIVE (5) uses of this code through their servers, as they pass it on to the IRS.

For the more enterprising, they may want to offer a use of the code for, say a $5 Amazon Gift Card trade...or maybe some will just give it away as was done earlier in this thread.

So, if you're a fellow SD'er and you've already filed your Federal Return through H&R Block and have NO MORE use for your Product Code...Offer it up to Fellow SD'ers!!!

Looks like $18 was the new low price this year so I guess $20 may be my penalty for waiting. Oh well.

Stocks & dividends are easily handled by Deluxe download. I used to be a landlord (single home, not apartment complex) and also used deluxe for those years except for one year when the advertising about rentals for premium got me to bite. It wasn't worth it. However, if I were doing multi-unit rentals, maybe...?

$15 (net after GC deal) is lowest posted this year iirc. Is $5 worth the maybe-stress of waiting until the last minute? I assume that your taxes are complicated enough that you can't file free.

Honest question: what's the difference between this and CashApp Tax (formerly CreditKarma Tax)? Apart from the latter being free, why would slickdealers pay when there's a free tax app? TIA!

Yeah, I should have pulled the trigger on the Starbucks e giftcard deal a few weeks ago. Oh well.

Is the current $29.99 best price for the premium version?

I don't recommend this product. I got a premium one and it couldn't do a simple task of getting correct 1099B, I tried both importing and manually adding, but it just won't get the names right and it won't let me edit the names.
I tried reaching out to customer support and opened 3 requests, but they haven't got back to me. they said they will reach out within 5 days but it's been over 12 days now. PLEASE DONT BUY
