The V6820i employs Texas Instruments' XPR (eXpanded Pixel Resolution) 0.47in DMD, which switches two million mirrors four times in the blink of an eye (approx.) to display an 8.3m-pixel picture.
Looks like a great deal, thanks OP!

is it true 4k?
Yes. If you pause a frame and walk up to the wall and count the pixels you will find that there are ~8 million pixels.
That having been said, there is a compromise being made with the 4-way XPR technology that is used to generate a 4K image from a 2K array of mirrors on the DLP chip inside this thing. That compromise affects image quality, but probably not in a way that would bother someone buying a $600 4K projector.

I can't speak to the reliability of the thing, but it's been recommended on the projectors subreddit for some time with the use of a grey contrast screen with a gain of .8-.9
Probably need to look into bulb costs and reliability before recommending myself, though.

Jury's still out on this one. I've counted around 1.5 million pixels so far. Lost track. Started over. I'll keep you guys posted.
