Ok deal if you don't value the lifetime warranty. This is pretty regularly $165-$190 with the LSA…that said, I've only ever had one of my hammer drills fail out of the dozens of ridged items I own.

i will pay extra for the lifetime warranty. It is worth the extra $30-$50. I have driver drill that is slowly falling in drill/reverse mode with light use.

Absolutely worth the extra money for lifetime warranty. I paid 175 for this nailer almost a year ago at DTO and it regularly drops to that price. Definitely worth the extra beans. That being said, I just finished framing my basement out with this thing and it is a phenomenal tool. Unless you need it now, I would hold off for another sale and pick it up with the warranty.

Factory reconditioned from DTO is not as reliable as factory blemished, correct?

"Blemished" tools are actually completely new, and they can be registered with lifetime warranties. "Reconditioned" tools are actually reconditioned meaning they may be a little banged up and dirty, and they may NOT be registered for lifetime warranty. It's totally luck of the draw on what you will get. Additionally, they will burn "recon" into the tool. Batteries with reconditioned tools will be functional, but the amount of degradation is unknown.

Reconditioned can be worth it if it way cheaper, but if it is only 20-30% less, I usually choose blemished. I'd be much more inclined to choose a plug in belt sander as a reconditioned tool than a nailer that will eventually have the seals dry-rot no matter how it's maintained.

Reliability is a tough call; reconditioned normally means used and may have had a defect repaired while factory blemished have ALL been brand new in my experience. Biggest long term issue is factory blemished carry the LSA while reconditioned do not. My recent reconditioned Ridgid tile saw from DTO this past February came with a broken piece which was annoying - I would have expected the *reconditioning* to have caught the broken piece. Upside was, I called Ridgid directly, and they mailed me the damaged part with zero friction which was awesome. I was expecting a toss back to DTO, and really didn't want to ship back a 40 lb saw for a $1 plastic part.

That's pretty awesome. Ridgid does seem to have good customer service IMO.

For real. Broken stuff sucks, and I was expecting a hassle; but their customer service was extremely solid in my instance. I was trying to figure out how to explain the problem part because the user manual just had the major assembly parts listed (the R4031s tile saw) and while I was on the phone she asked if I wanted to take a look at the exploded parts diagram to see if I could locate it. She emailed me the diagram, I found the part number, she checked inventory and took my mailing info and setup shipment. Everything handled in 1 phone call by 1 person - that's remarkably rare it seems nowadays.
