The keychain holder isn't really for the situation of theft. It is more for losing your keys, etc. Also, the airtag isn't wrapped in metal so I doubt the ring will have any noticeable affect on range.

Having owned several varieties in the past, the Pass through airtag holders are not good, they'll eventually slip through.

Best to buy one with solid back to avoid playing hide and seek with airtag

Bought two 4-packs of the silicone ones for a total of $2.17.

I feel silicone is more durable than vegan leather, so it's my preference.

Edit: just got an update that my order is ready for pick up and it hasn't even been 30 minutes. Excellent!
