This looks like a real good value vs typical prices specifically for teh Sharpie and Expo brand stuff.

But annoyingly for buying our actual school supplies, we're always given very specific lists of specific quantities of specific things. This would be like 1/2 of 1/2 of what I need and 12 extra things I don't need. Maybe thats just my problem though.

Very similar to a back to school 40-piece set Costco usually sells for ~$16 often on sale for $11 in late summer

Agree. Our local Staples pre-builds bags for what our elementary school students need labeled by grade. By the time I reconcile lists, find the missing items, etc, it's hard to save enough $ to make up for the ease of buying the bag without discounts.

Sorry i missed this, i buy the Costco one every year when it goes on sale for the next year. Very handy for school supplies and extra supplies for projects and homework for the kid.
