About this Item:
The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition system features a design inspired by the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game, including the familiar Hylian Crest from the Legend of Zelda series on the front of the dock (game not included).
I just successfully got in line and pre-ordered one for local pickup in Utah.
Order before the scalpers do, if you're planning on getting one!
I wish you all a wonderful Tuesday & GOOD LUCK!! ^_^
What happened to Nintendo, they used to give u a game or two and make it worth the purchase. Lame
Actually that's incorrect. They never gave you a game with any of their special edition Nintendo Switch systems. Animal crossing never came with the game Splatoon 3 never came with the game.
From my understanding, Nintendo has only included a game during Black Friday with special edition bundles. And possibly Mario day such as this year when they did the pick one of 3 Mario game bundle.
Life long Zelda fan since NES, but this looks like one of the ugliest Switch designs so far. Is it just me? I can't believe everybody's so eager for this thing.
Not sure why all of the hype over this. I see close to zero resell potential, it is just an oled switch with a zelda skin. No memory upgrade, no chip upgrade, no game included. If someone did not have an oled switch or any switch at all, I could see them picking it up or maybe a die hard zelda fanatic but other than them, I can easily imagine these being in every store easily available once released.
I started to preorder this from the Target link but then read all the comments about how the hardware is so dated. Got me wondering when the new Switch is coming out and apparently its right about the corner, like within a year or so, so I ended up cancelling the pre-order. I think if you don't have a switch at all this is a decent pick up for the back catalog, but if you have a non OLED switch already you REALLY gotta be a Zelda fan or collector to warrant buying this right now.
I know this will be a collectible and probably fetch north of $500 some day but man, I echo the sentiment that this hardware is really aging. It was slow in 2017 and even slower today. I really hope we see a revision to the hardware soon, when in reality the tegra chip inside is from late 2015…
Yea.. at the same time, botw is just an amazing game. And their typical IP is usually great.
Its really the only reason it even works. Otherwise yea its really old tech. Anything other than Nintendo IP is going to be terrible
The only nonsense here is your comment. If you doubled the switches power (it'll probably be at least that much improvement to the next one), it should be easy to run any switch level graphics at 60 FPS. The switch is so weak that even in the most polished nintendo games they often can't break 30 FPS, despite how simple the graphics are for the time. I don't need my graphics to be more advanced, I just want a decent framerate and maybe a bit better anti-aliasing. Your staunch ignorance to the subject just makes you look like a joke.
Nonsense.
All that happens when a new system comes out is developers push that system's performance and voila, you still have occasional frame rate drops etc.
IT's always happened. It happens on every new system. It will continue to happen.
There's always tradeoffs in game design. Super Mario Sunshine had frame rate drops on the roller coaster level. Obviously they decided it was better to leave it in despite the issue. Nintendo Switch being a lot more powerful didn't prevent tradeoffs in game design. It didn't stop developers from pushing the limits.
Also the complete joke is saying even the most polished Nintendo games often can't break 30 fps.
When people get a new system it won't be to play all the games they just played as a rule of thumb. It will be to play new games.
I never get this crying about making the Switch more powerful or any system more powerful so one can play the great games again that got great reviews on the old system. It's a nice fantasy but reality is who has the time to spend doing that. The reality is the games were great. They looked nice. Ran great. And most of all played great. Sold great. On the old system. At least as far as Nintendo 1st party games go.
IT's just odd and not realistic more of a fantasy to want to do the same thing all again 6 years later with slightly better tech. If you had a Time Machine it wouldn't be nonsense. But I don't think you do.
Should have made it 400 bucks with the game included. It's meh otherwise, I'd rather get the regular oled for like 320 and the rest of the game. But I'm not really a collector of Nintendo consoles, so not for me anyways.
Switch 2 will almost 100% have DLSS trick to get fake 4K so they can market that. And obviously the hardware will be like a 2 year old cell phone chip. Only a fool would think Nintendo is going to have some state-of-the-art chip that competes head to head with the iPhone 16 powerwise. And sure Steam Deck has 16gb quad channel ram but no way in piss Nintendo does that. Especially since the Xbox Series S has 10gb.
I expect maybe a 4X more powerful chip then the current switch and 8-10gb of ram and 128gb internal memory(64gb also a good chance, I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to be cheap). The screen will most likely be OLED and 720P I would be actually quite shocked if it's better than 720p. And if it is better 900P not 1080p. I wouldn't even put a past Nintendo to have the same seven inch 720p oled screen as the current switch OLED. Maybe they will even do 7.2 inch and even worse ppi lol. I have been thinking that it would be more costly to add this feature but it would be very cool Nintendo type gimmick and that would be some type of wirelessly playing the switch on the TV while undocked. That would bring more gameplay possibilities with using the switch. Almost like the Wii U. Now granted that would cost more to have that built into the dock connected to everybody's TV. But this thing's going to cost more than the regular switch guaranteed.
$399 Oct/Nov 2024 I expect for the Switch 2. Nintendo I doubt will go $499. That's just too pricey for Nintendo. No chance in heck it's $299 or even $349.
I also think Nintendo might include a game with the Switch 2 like the Wii and Wii U. Something that shows off it's new gimmick and features. I know the switch did not come with a game at launch but Nintendo was in a very poor spot. Wii U sold like trash and they were kind of going back to their roots. You play it either undocked like a game boy or play a docked like a GameCube and that was it. So I don't think they needed a game to show off the Switch. The gimmick worked for everyone by just docking it and undocking it. So my guess is the Switch 2 will have a new type of gimmick (possibly wireless docking capability) Mario Kart 9 could be played by 5 people 4 on TV and 1 on the Dock. It will include some type of game to show this off and get people use to it and then sell Mario Kart 9 for $69.99 with the feature.
I also believe Metroid Prime 4 will be a launch game for the Switch 2. It will also same day come to the regular Switch. It will be a good game to show off the new DLSS 4K trickery. It will look nice and shiny and have better textures.
Gimmick will be trojan horse VR if they can put a higher res screen on it. Doesn't mean the handheld games run at the higher res. They will just upscale those in some fashion from the 720p.
That's my gimmick guess. Still might be too early for them to be able to do that at a Nintendo price point. But there's always Switch 3 or a mid cycle update that adds a higher res screen that VR would require.
They did a proof of concept with Labo VR. It was interesting. The 720p was too much of an eye sore tho to want to play it for very long. Maybe as low as 1080p would be good enough.

I just can't imagine Nintendo go the VR route unless it becomes super popular in mainstream. They did have the virtual boy disaster back in the day lol. I really think it comes down too what is going to surprise and delight somebody. Exactly what Doug Bowser says. I think VR is cool and a Mario game could be quite fun and VR. I just don't think the price point is there yet to make sense for Nintendo. I think that is a possibility in the following generation. I think Nintendo personally wants to ride the wave of the switch even farther. They probably are quite scared of doing something radically different. But you never know you might be correct!
I still think it's going to be a wireless docking capability as the gimmick. That technically would allow people to not take their hands off the game whatsoever. It also could provide the possibility of even just two players having their own screen. Let alone five players. And there's definitely going to be some surprises.
The one thing I am quite positive on is that it's not going to be some crazy drastically more powerful device. I would probably say about 4X and only about double the ram instead of 4 on switch 8 on switch 2. And I really curious if they even use the term Switch. Last time they reused the term Wii did not work out for them. Back in the '90s parents were really pissed off that the NES could not play any of the new SNES games. I definitely think the Switch 2(or new name) will be backwards Compatible with Switch.

Not to mention we see the frame drops in the trailers itself. That said, the design IS cool I guess.
Fired up the Wii recently and I'm really impressed with it. It's still fun after all this time! Bought it in 2006 so it is a 17 year old system. The switch feels cheap compared to the old Wii that is the main disconnect for me. If we can get a quality system like the old Wii with modern hardware that would be perfect.
