Been watching Lectric XP / Lite for about a year now for the right time to buy, but pulled the trigger on this one instead.

FYI the additional $25 off is currently still in effect if paying via credit/debit or PayPal, applied at final checkout.

Total $675 delivered with aforementioned coupon code NNNEP2Pro6

Thanks!

for $700, this seems like a closeout sale. you won't find the company again when you need support.

From the article:

"When you're buying an e-bike or other micromobility device, try to find what battery comes stocked with it, Pecht said. Does the maker of the device state where the battery is sourced from? Is the battery made by a reputable manufacturer? Experts also suggest that consumers look for batteries that have a UL certification."

Back breaker too, if you need to lift this. Fixing my back is not cheap.
Yeah, I can lift 70 pounds but to take something cumbersome like this, even when folded and lug it up some stairs daily would suck. At some point battery tech will improve and the weight of these things will go down.

Buy a bike you have to pedal? That'll help get you in shape? Smilie

This is a no-name manufacturer that is not widespread, at least in the US. If you buy this product you might not be able to readily get replacement parts, if at all, and the safety standards on the battery might be subpar. Another consideration is where are the wires connected, they do they connect into the frame or do they have a connection wire port, which makes it easy to replace a wire. This model looks like the wires go straight into the frame, which will make fixing a wire a big pain the butt.
Thank you for the measured and intelligent comment. I've been watching for an ebike that I could use in the Midwest throughout the year for small errands, and I don't think this will fit the bill... I am not handy, so I imagine I'd be in a lot of trouble if/when things break. Starting to think I'd have to pay $1500+ for a pre built, or look into one of those Baofeng mountain bike conversions and find someone to help me

One youtuber said this is 80+ lb with battery, not just 70lb. Also it's 750W motor is inefficient; he compared it to 250W motor on a good ebike. But that youtuber also concludes that this is best deal for such ebike on such price range.

For me, 80lb is just way too much. I already have an occassional backpain, don't want to make it worse.

There a lot of comments on the weight of this bike. It's not meant for carrying around or as a pedal bike. It's an electric moped with some bike parts classify it as a bicycle. I have a 500w bike similar to this. It's awesome and has plenty of torque. It's too powerful to pedal along with and feel like you're getting any exercise.
This seems like a great deal for these specs.
Those looking for something lighter or that they can pedal along with for exercise will likely be better off with a non-fat tire bike and a much smaller motor, 250 or 350 watt.
I also have a 26" 350 watt bike for my son. This one you need to pedal with to keep up with the 500 watt if your going up hill.
Hoping this deal will end so I don't buy it to replacd the 350 watt bike, I want it and just don't need it.

After sleeping on it, i feel like i made the right choice. It has about a 3.9 star rating on amazon with about 800 reviews. The company is based in California but builds them in China, much like my previous electric bike company does in Ariel Rider. For tall riders there isn't much other choice for under $1000 fat bike and folding.

The reason i got this over the lectric xp 3.0 is because it's $300 cheaper, has probably equal motor (this bike has 750 wott vs lectric xp has 500 wott.) both list the same nm of torque at 55nm, although i do see some people report that the engwe can be 80nm of torque... maybe if you unlock it's class??? Also the engwe has fatter tires, 4" vs 3" and that was the main dealbreaker for me. I wanted larger tires because i will be riding through floodplains, aka grass and mud.

The only concern i have is with the suspension forks but i think they will be good enough. That is another reason i wanted this bike, for the suspension fork and fat tire. For $700 you will not find anything near this deal, for tall people. Lectric has a $800 option but this is much better.

There is a newer Engwe model of this bike that comes with a rear shock built in, make sure if you watch reviews or videos that you look for that and know this bike doesn't have that. There are 3 different versions i think with the same name. Original had 12.8ah battery, this has 13ah battery and the newest has a 16ah battery.

The 16ah battery is selling for $400 on the engwe website. I am thinking about purchasing it. My current electric bike, has a 14ah battery and i can do about 20 miles on it with my very hilly bike commute (it's 2 years old now and 7000 miles in, i think the battery is getting weaker). So the default 13ah battery might be dead for me by the time i get home which wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I did find an ebay store with the name something like "official-engwe-store-2" that sells engwe only products and they have the 16ah battery for $330. If i can confirm that they are the legit store i might take a shot at buying the battery from the ebay store, or i will just buy it from their website. They sold the rack bag for very cheap and a few other engwe accessories very cheap so i think they might be legit. Their about us page and their shipping is from Califorinia which makes sense. There is another "official-engwe-store" that is from China so i am hopeful that its the real store.

Lot's of very positive videos about the bike on youtube

6 foot 3, tall honest rider.

Bottom line: For the price, if folding and weight aren't important, this is a great deal! I myself don't really want the folding feature besides to fit into my car once in awhile. I commute to work and i can park my bike in my office so i purely wanted the best motor/battery and bike combo for as cheap as possible and this was it. VERY TALL FRIENDLY

I also saw that eBay store, and the battery for $300 (or whatever you said)... Also ended up ultimately ordering the bike, but still am concerned about assembly. I am not handy at all in this way. I know we have a local bike shop that might be willing to do it though, but not sure about charges. Also am concerned about dealing with flats and being stuck places. Can't necessarily call people for help.

Either way though, this ended up being about half the cost of other more recommended Chinese stuff out there. The only other thing I was seriously considering was maybe getting a Baofeng conversion kit for my mountain bike, but am unsure how much my bike shop would charge for that, as well as any major issues or downsides I would have with that sort of DIY ...

The bike is easy to assemble. There are videos online that show how to do it. Is this your first bicycle? I got into electric biking 2 years ago with little knowledge on maintaining my bike, but it's really not that hard. It will be hard to find a local place to help you maintain your bike, generally they want you to buy the bike at their store in order for them to fix it, or at the least they want a mid-drive motor and not a hub drive motor like this one.

Working on your bike yourself is really easy if you just do some research, watch some videos and i would suggest join electricbikereview forum and if you have any questions or problems you can post there and they can help you. I really recommend you learn how to replace your tire tubes yourself AND always carry a spare tire on you and a bike pump. Also it's a good idea to carry all the tools that came with the bike when you ride. I would get familiar with changing a tire at home when you have a free weekend, learning how to take off and reattach the tire, especially the rear one. The rear tire has the motor so you have to disconnect the power cable and remove the wheel can be a bit tricky and you might need a 16mm wrench for removing the wheel which the bike might not come with. If you have any questions you can ask here or join the forum i mentioned.

Struggling to compare this to a lectric xp 3.0 (which i've also been watching). I guess lectric has the 14 Ah bike vs. engwe's 13 Ah. Hard to compare motors based on power rating. What else to compare?

also, is this returnable?

I think warranty/support will be non-existent/very bad... I wouldn't count on returning a heavy overseas product like this to China and getting your money back. I'm taking my chances still though
