When you go to book the open bar gratuities are over 100 dollars for a week per person. If you book with two children for a group of 4 total it is well over 4 thousand dollars when all the hidden fees are revealed. very misleading when they advertise free third and fourth passengers and then add the hidden fees for those passengers to bring the price back up again.

Yeah it isn't free at all! When you compare the flights to normal commercial flights they end up being less than the single flight through Norwegian.

Is this a unique deal to this year or does this happen every year?

I've been looking at an NCL Alaskan cruise for several months and this deal has been a part of it.
Also with NCL you can go to guest services and have them remove the gratuities if you prefer to tip yourself or in the case they are adding gratuitites for children that aren't receiving any true "service".

Do you tip at each meal? How much cash do you bring onboard?
What services children do not get while cruising? Do they eat/drink/sleep on the ship?
If you want a cheap vacation, an Alaska cruise is not one you should go with.

I just went on my first cruise (I'm single) and gratuities were "included" (Princess) but I still tipped at the bar, my steward, and when I ate in the main dining room. I brought about $200 in 5's and 10's for a 7 day cruise. I don't think Princess allows you to remove the gratuities but I read that NCL does.
