I've been wanting to get a rear handle saw for a while, but didn't want the Makita 36v with the two batteries. Couldn't pass this one up! Return the free battery to get the $172.59 price for the saw, charger, case and 4ah battery!

This 100%. It's the method that is getting thumbs down. Look back at old posts.
Good deal although I'd probably keep the battery. The 36 volt rear handle saw is super disappointing, I could barely cut 2x4's with it without it binding, kicking back and stalling out.

Lol... That opinion is not in line with industry findings. It's one of the better saws on the market

Take a look at the blade direction. Mine was doing the same thing until i noticed wtf they installed the blade backwards from the factory. After i switch it around, the saw cuts so fast no lack of power.

User error 100%. That saw is one of the best available.
Has anyone tried using a gift card this "hack"? I have a $50 dollar gift card to put towards part of the order, but when I return the battery, will they refund the credit card or the gift card?

Definitely check the blade installation position. Mine has been amazing from day one, and I've used it a ton over the last two years.

No offense but no way should you be experiencing issues with cutting with that Saw. Maybe Blade but definitely user. Most Circ Saws are more than capable. I own both rear and d handle Makita 36v plus others too.

I did this with another tool and when I returned the battery I was given a choice of a store credit or eGift card. This seems to be a change in policy. Last year I got refund back to my credit card before any gift card.
