Also, note that the filters seem to be broken...visiting the RF 50mm, and then navigating up to all refurbished lenses, there are quite a few with the RF mount. But if you filter to just "RF Mount" using the filters on the left side of the page, it only shows 4 lenses, which is incorrect.

Considering the Rebel T7 ($320) for my kid who wants to get into photography... anyone have an opinion on that vs. a comparably-priced alternative?

Still waiting the R to go sub-$1000, the R6 $1500, and the R5 $2500. Since we're dealing with Canon, maybe holiday 2024.

A "sale" on outdated cameras. Waiting to see it on the front page.

Would be perfect. Check out the M50 or M100 for similar quality levels, but different lens format. I bought the M50 with the 20mm pancake several years ago and it was a great entry into a mid-tier Canon. Depending on age, the M bodies would be ligher, and with adapter could accomdate the other lens formats. Look for kits that include one or two included lenses. Many/most of the Canon camera menu systems are the same so moving up to a higher tier would be easier

Getting the articulating screen is a very nice feature and well worth the upgrade to the t7i. Especially for a younger photographer trying to learn different angles and shooting methods.

Bad deal. Brand new 5D Mark IV was only about $1200 a couple years ago. Plus, it's 6 years old and way outdated.

Doesn't seem like much of a sale. The rp body is the same price as it was a few months ago.

I agree the 5D MIV isn't the top budget tier anymore. The new Canon R6 is about the best pro-am camera out there right now in the Canon lineup. Has the same sensor at the R3 at a fraction of the cost. Unless you're needing to do a lot of cropping.

I have the T2i (yes, I'm old, lol) and "upgraded" to the M100. It was fun at first, but a few things I have to mention:
1) The articulating screen only raises up, which sounds like all you might need, but there were so many times I e wished I could take photos by lifting my camera up, or flipping the screen sideways. It's almost useless.
2) The simplicity actually ruins the photography experience for me. Tap the touchscreen to focus? And it always wants to go full auto, even when you use the manual settings, it feels like an afterthought.
3) The pocket size of the camera is awesome, but boy does its compactness make it hard to grip, especially with anything other than a super light lens.
4) The battery life is atrocious. I'm never comfortable with just the single battery.
5) I bought the adapter for using my APS-C lenses. It works great, but you can kiss that portability goodbye.
6) Autofocus isn't as great as it should be. In some respects, it feels slower and more fidgety that my old T2i.

I find myself just using my phone camera instead of bringing the M100 along, which makes me sad. I'm thinking of getting the R7 someday.
