I bet you are fun at parties. If you don't have anything nice or constructive to provide, please don't leave a comment. These knives are perfectly fine for everyday use for most people.
Not the best but far from crap. The quality/price ratio is hard to beat. 99% of people do not need to spend several hundred dollars on a benchmade simply to open amazon packages. I personally would rather have 10 sub $20 knives scattered about the house than one really good knife that I would be afraid to break/lose and therefore rarely use.

They're fine for your average consumer. I'm not a big fan of their multi tools though. Leatherman multi tools are better quality for a little more money.

this. gerber paraframe was my first knife. got another one at some point bc i did like it. but wasn't until i got a SOG flash 2 that i learned what true quality meant.
ended up slicing my finger open with it bc i didn't respect its capabilities and was using it as a box cutter while working at lowe's, needed to go to the ER to get stitches afterwards.

and once you buy a leatherman all and every other multitool you try will leave you baffled at how well leatherman has got the multitool game down. all other multitools you encounter in the future will fall comically short in comparison and you will be cursed to crave the leathermans effectiveness for the rest of your life.

I have the mini folding knife. Have used it for many years. A great value for a daily carry pocket knife at this price. Sturdy enough, can be sharpened, useful for everyday minor tasks.

Ehhh... not so much anymore. The Victorinox Spirit-X is overall a sleeker, better-made multitool, and more ergonomic. The only issue is that's it so nice I hesitate to use it on super nasty jobs. The Wave patents have expired and there are some decent copies. The Walmart Leatherman Wave clone the "Ozark Trail Multiforce Premium 18 in 1" is less than half the price and in my use (and in online reviews) is very solidly built and functionally identical to the Wave. I can imagine the warranty support will not be as good, but for the function-price difference that's a risk I was willing to take.

I've had this for around 5 years now (it used to be $6 I think on amazon) and still going strong. I sharpen it every year or two and it works great for how infrequently you need an edc pocket knife nowadays. Very light and unobtrusive in my pocket. Clip is good.

Tend to agree. I think the OG Gerber multitool was their peek. Their newer ones are almost painful to hold for any length of time. I've kept a Leatherman Wave+ in my work bag for years and use it every day. It still looks new. I'd replace that thing in a second if I lost it.
I wouldn't even recommend to "average consumer". Their quality is just abysmal. Managing a knife retail store for years is my qualification. At this price point, your best option is one of the folding knives from a Home Depot or Lowes that takes utility blades.

I don't get the hate for these little paraframe knives. I've had a number of them for many years now (keep losing them to TSA), and they are great little knives. Of course they aren't going to compete with a more expensive knife, but that's not what they're intended to do. For a small little thing that is practically unnoticeable clipped to your pocket, they are great. I'm surprised how expensive they've gotten (I think I bought a bunch for around this price $7-$8 without a sale), but I wouldn't hesitate to grab a few more to have as throw away knives.

Bought this when it was on sale for $6 bucks a few years ago... honestly love this tiny little knife. Fits perfectly in that little tiny pocket above the bigger side pocket in jeans. Clips nicely inside the waistband of basketball/workout shorts when I need to go ultra lightweight. When someone asks for a knife to open a package... I hand them this instead of my bigger 4 inch edc's... less intimidating around family/kids.

I have a few Gerber knives and think are great everyday usage knives. I really like the Paraframe lineup however I have a hard time opening with one hand. Possibly my hand is too big? I don't have that problem with other knives I own. It's not that the blade is too stiff for one handed opening but rather it just doesn't fit into my hand where I can open it with my thumb.

I too, think Gerber's peak was the MP-400 or MP-600. The glass beaded surface for the plier jaws guide made the action crazy-smooth!

This. I have several of the black MP 600 Pro Scouts with the carbide inserts. Fantastic tools. Use one at least 4-5 times a week.

I have a couple of these cheap paraframes that I keep in my fishing gear for cutting up bait. It definitely needs sharpening after a couple of days of use. But it's always quick and easy. I'd say this is a decent price point.
