The primary drawbacks in reality are that the PSU may run less efficiently and generate somewhat more heat. However, in a situation where you'd want a relatively low-capacity UPS like this, it's probably to have time to save your work and shut down or you expect the power will come back in <5min, in which case the efficiency loss is likely to make a big difference.
In other words: I'd be more worried about a power surge or sudden loss of power causing damage to your computer than I would be about a simulated sine wave.
That said: this does not extend to all devices! If you're thinking of putting HiFi audio equipment, machinery, medical devices, or, like, a PDP-11 behind a simulated sine wave UPS: don't.

I just want to use this for the cable modem and my router. How many hours will this give me in the event of a power shut off?
PRO TIP: If you have older models, where the battery is bad, you don't need to throw it out and spend another $100. Buy the replacement batteries from EBAY. You can watch a youtube video on how to install the batteries (moving the harness to the new replacement batteries(replacement batteries are often very common ones). It's easy and cheap.
Tangent or GTFO
I just tried Best Buy price match and they honored it, so I ordered through them, getting it on April 1st.

Thank you. Got two UPS in two different orders + 100% back in rewards batteries. Any idea when you are supposed to get the visa card in the email?
Edit: Looks like 3 business days. Here's what it says:
Within 3 business days you will receive an email with a redemption link from [email protected].
Given that this is a visa card, this effectively makes the UPS $88 - $20 = $68. Thanks.
Double conversion UPS' have perfectly flat voltage output constantly. They are expensive.
Some UPS's have problems running off a generator due to harmonic distortion. Some of the Cyberpower pure sinewaves do.

Makes as much since as complaining about a computer battery backup's ability to run an electric motor.....even if it can in theory.
I have used APC UPS for years (15+). I currently have three APC UPS, all simulated sine.
APC1 - Sony 55" LED TV+STRDN1080 AVR running 5.1.2, + Switch, Nvidia Shield + other media devices
APC2 - Gaming PC with GTX1080ti, 27" monitor, some peripherals.(Currently displays 40-60 min power while browsing internet, 1350VA)
APC3 - Synology 4 drive NAS, modem, wifi, switches, POE devices, etc.
Have never had any issue with my devices connected to APC UPS.
Whole point for me is to provide enough power for me to switch them off properly, and to protect against brownouts/surges.
The other day we had a wind storm and I could hear my UPS' switching over to battery, all day. Glad I had that extra protection.
Sorry office depot but you SUCK with a capital S
I will wait for a real vendor that can process orders or price match in the future the 900 w with sinewave , theyy usually go for 145
A car battery with an AC inverter works as a portable battery. Inverters are $15 & up.
I use my Ryobi battery with an inverter to keep my router on a few hours.

This is much more efficient than the 12V (or 24V) DC --->120V AC -->12V / 19.5V DC procedure and saved a UPS.
