No one's going to be running an A/C or refrigerator off of a 1000VA battery backup. Not only would it only last a few minutes, the compressor starting up would be too much amperage and it would cut out immediately. Sine wave used to be important for PC power supplies a couple decades ago. Power supplies are built much better nowadays and aren't effected by simulated sine wave. The only things someone might need a pure sine wave UPS for these days are sensitive medical equipment, like CPAP machines, etc. The audiophile community likes to spend money on pure sine wave UPS's and power conditioners, but they've been proven redundant many times, as any decent amplifier already has power conditioning built-in.
The answer is a somewhat annoying "it depends," but generally speaking, yeah, it should be totally fine for any modern desktop computer power supply. No power supply provides AC mains power to the parts; they convert it converts it to DC. In so doing, they have systems for power filtration built in, because the power coming from the grid is never (okay, rarely) 100% perfect.

The primary drawbacks in reality are that the PSU may run less efficiently and generate somewhat more heat. However, in a situation where you'd want a relatively low-capacity UPS like this, it's probably to have time to save your work and shut down or you expect the power will come back in <5min, in which case the efficiency loss is likely to make a big difference.

In other words: I'd be more worried about a power surge or sudden loss of power causing damage to your computer than I would be about a simulated sine wave.

That said: this does not extend to all devices! If you're thinking of putting HiFi audio equipment, machinery, medical devices, or, like, a PDP-11 behind a simulated sine wave UPS: don't.

Fairly certain I received a refurbished unit from this deal. The taping on the outside looked redone and there is a quality assurance "revision" checklist taped to the unit. Waste of time.
Both of mine came with the same quality inspection receipt looking thing taped to the side.

Did yours have a yellow sticker covering the battery backup outlets? Also, did you have to connect the battery?

The checklist taped to the side isn't uncommon, I think all of my APC and CyberPower had them. We have a ton of electronics on a portion of the grid built over 100 years ago, so we have a lot of UPS devices. In my case, the battery bay door/frame being beat to hell and the battery looking like it was put through a rock tumbler are not normal. The power cable looked like it was managed/packed by a toddler. The interior bag was torn open awkwardly, and there was no supporting materials like the USB cable. My battery terminals were also not stickered, which is probably a huge freaking no-no by the carriers handling these things.

The dumb thing is the checklist on the side only contains the UPS S/N and not the battery S/N. I want proof of the battery working more than the UPS working.

OD told me to chuck it in the trash and there's a new one inbound, presumably because they're not worth the price to return and disposing of batteries properly is a PITA.

My brand new unit (I think) also had the QA checklist attached to it. So that on its own doesn't make me think its refurb. Battery looks new and seems to work fine. The taping on the outside also looks redone but thats just the way they retape before shipping in the box as is.

I also received the $20 offer via email -- two emails, waiting for the actual $20 gift card though. First have to enter info, then have to verify info, then still waiting for actual card. Geez.

The refurbish checklist was the final straw. The box was totally torn up and obviously retaped. The pieces inside seemed and appeared out of place. They took a return to be picked up by a third party carrier, who showed up and refused to accept it. I took it to the store and they were bewildered how they could process the return. Dwindling company that has apparently jumped the shark straight into a pile of dogshit. Thanks again SD mods, hope the check was worth this scam.

Deal worked fine for me. Took like a dozen emails and registering to get the $20 gift card but my UPS is setup and was delivered to my house for $80 net agc. No OD that close to me so worth it to get it shipped.

My store pickup unit also had inspection check list on the side, but everything looked packaged as brand new. Inspected 11/17/2022.
