Previously: Best Buy had this at $19.99, but sold out pretty quickly and I missed out.

But now it's $19.99 at Target! Same model SP80.

Works with Mac & PC, and will def be used to re-digitize some old DVD/CD's that I could have done a better job the first time around.

Product Details:
  • Silent Play: Offers optimal noise reduction (CD-DA ,Video-CD, DVD-Video).
  • Jamless Play: Reduces interruptions for smooth playback.
  • 6x maximum DVD±R DL write speeds and 8x maximum DVD±R write speeds
  • 8x maximum DVD-ROM SL/DL read speeds
  • 5x maximum DVD-RAM write speed
  • 24x maximum CD-RW write speeds for fast disc burning.
  • 24x maximum CD-ROM read speed
  • 0.75MB cache buffer and underrun prevention function
  • USB interface
  • 160 ms average for DVD and 140 ms for CD access time
  • To help you complete your tasks quickly.

Nice find op. Wish there was a similar deal on a Blu-ray player.
Back in 1996, I paid $350 for an external 4x SCSI CD burner, so this seems like a great deal!
Some Doctors Offices do it for scans and such

People with Crappy internet do, plus most Blu Ray players upscale the discs to make them look better on HDTVs, and some of the newest players even have AI Upscaling to make them look almost Blu Ray quality on a 4KTV.

Its certainly not modern, nor does anyone claim it is, but when you need a optical drive...there is no workaround.

Bonus points for being about the cheapest (to the point of being disposable) way to share / backup data.
