Keep in mind this is not the latest gen. This is M1 and should be sufficient for most. M2 is not a giant leap overall for the premium, but to each it's own.

Great price if you need a cellular iPad Pro and don't require the latest M2 version (Apple Pencil floatover, WiFI 6e, etc.).

honestly is the extra $300 for double the memory and 1 tb worth it? my use will be mostly youtube video watching and saving videos to watch on flights

If you need ipad only for media cosumtion i don't think you even need ipad pro. Pro mostly needed by who does require more power like vidoe/photo editing. For just watching video on the go why don't you look into base ipad model whith higher storage or air models?

Also keep in mind if you plan to use stage manager (multitasking multiple programs with an external display) it will need virtual memory (same as Windows pagefile), which will use storage space.

In terms of practicality, have you actually tried using a 12.9" iPad on a flight? I have -- no room for anything else and if the person in front puts their seat back, well -- forget it.

If you must have a Pro, get the 11", otherwise get an Air and use the savings to bump the storage. If you have your own movie files, get a tiny 256GB USB-C memory stick [amazon.com] and load it up with movies and watch with Infuse app and skip the rip-off memory prices on iPads.

Dosent the 1Tb also come with 16gb ram vs 8 on the 512?

I have never seen an apple device struggle with Ram so don't know if that's really needed
