And isn't TLC currently considered to be the best mix of performance and price for the most part? And aren't folks finding QLC drives can run slow as molasses in some scenarios?

this is an average, similar to other lifespan measurement for drives (SMART etc.)

Yup. I also remember Sammy Pro NVMe were SLC..
