I have this knife--wish I had my money back. It's a beautiful knife, good feel, balanced, nice blade, but the deployment mechanism is a design flaw. The blade will not deploy. It's like trying to push open a big gate at the hinge. There's no spring assist, no thumb assist, no finger groove in the blade. Sad, but IMO, the designers missed up on this one.
Looking for a carry knife for practical use.
Is this a good deal?
It says in the description that it's tight and needs oil. That's a red flag for me. You could spend a little more and have something with great action out the box, ergonomics, and materials. I have quite a few knives, spyderco, benchmade, civivi, crkt, kubey, and other than my para 3 (my fav), my civivi is my second fav to carry.
I got one of these about 8 years ago and beat it to hell on the farm. It's built like a tank. The opening mechanism got easier with use. I'm not sure if the new ones are built as well but a solid deal regardless

I'll send you mine and you can beat it to hell too. Pain in the ass to open.
I have this knife and it's a great collectors piece being one of the first quick deploy knives ever designed.
It's also fun to fidget with once you get the opening angle down correctly. People complaining are most likely just pushing up which won't work.
Like the other deal at this store, this is not your dad's Camillus, the original 100 year old company went out of business in 07 and these are China knives branded with the name leftover when the IP was bought out.

There is a lot I like about this knife, but with so many others to choose from, it's hard to justify grabbing this one given that awkward opening angle that you mentioned.
To those considering it, just keep in mind that it will take a lot of practice to get it to open reliably with one hand. If you already own a couple favorites, this one will likely end up collecting dust.
P.S. - I also own the CUDA Mini, which has a different opening angle and opens flawlessly. That is a nice little knife.
I bought this knife from Walmart clearance about 5 years ago. Looks good and felt good in the hand but it fell apart. I wouldn't use it for everyday use. The screws kept coming loose, I kept having to adjust it and put it back together. I finally misplaced it and never looked for it again.

10 years ago I returned my original knife, with a broken blade, with the original box, to Camillus. The address was a suite in Manhattan.
I needed a working knife and so I sent it anyway and after 8 weeks I received a $10 piece of junk replacement that was worth about $3. I will never, ever buy a Camillus knife again. There are too many good knives at this price, that offer a good return for the money.

Ya it definitely took some getting used to but mine wore in well. The coating has held up decent as well

It's not titanium. The blade is coated with something that has titanium in it.

Yes, titanium is the best for saltwater, but their use of "titanium" here is just marketing. Titanium knives are not cheap.
