Great watch. I've used it for running, hiking, backpacking, XC skiing, and backcountry skiing. Does a great job with stats and tracking. I think I paid $550 for the non solar edition at REI 11/21. The solar on this watch does very little for it.

I agree. I've had the watch since Jan 2022. The Fenix 6 Solar is great and Garmin ports a lot of features from the Fenix 7 series to it, which is nice. The solar aspect is somewhat gimmicky. I really should have bought the sapphire version instead as the solar glass is not nearly as durable. I got a nice scratch across the face within a few months of owning it and not even sure how.
Just bought one yeastefay from Amazon but the pro 6x sapphire for 400.
Buydig same price but no tax. I believe they say they are authorized retailers.
Actually, shoot does anyone know if 3rd party seller by fulfilled by Amazon counts as authorized seller? Or did I just shoot myself in the foot potentially warranty wise?
My research states that this is basically the same as the newer 7. It's is a few years old due to Covid delays. The newer 7x has a cool flashlight , better gps, touchscreen, and slightly improved ppg sensor (elevate v4 vs v3) that is better at swimming and biking mostly. Battery life might be a couple of days difference but they both last for weeks.
Can anyone say how the HR tracking is versus say Ann Apple Watch?
I've tried Fitbit's and Amazon halos and they are terrible. Saying my HR is 80 when it's 180 on Apple Watch.
Some people say sapphire is more scratch resistant but less shatter resistant.
Those are my thoughts, you can also check out the gtr4 by amazfit. $200 looks pretty cool. Iffy about Chinese company and long term quality.
Amazon also has the Forerunner 955 Solar for $489, which is a better watch than this IMO. The Fenix 6's GPS chip is really mediocre. Mine would jump around quite a bit and pace would jump around even worse. I have an Epix2 now (same chip as the 955 Solar) and the GPS is insanely accurate. Even in areas with tree cover I can often look at the track and tell which side of a ~10ft wide bike path I was running on. Pace is rock solid as well.
Wow cannot believe 6x is still being sold and for this price, great watch but kind of old tech.
I mean other than touch screen, additional satellites, and an incremental improvement to ppg sensor what makes this outdated?
I just got it today, been playing around with it. It's so far comparable to my Apple Watch (series 4) in accuracy. Admittedly my Apple Watch is old too.
But I really am interested in your thoughts while I'm in return window. Seems like to me maybe this smart watch tech has matured?

399 for an Amazon "renewed" product
