Staub's enameled cast iron is still made in France. It's the ceramic and misc stuff that have been outsourced to China.
It's the same with Le Creuset.
Funny some stuff is made in France other is made in China!

Interesting... hard pass. But I had a staub small cocotte and it seems to be on par with my la creseut or however you spell it. When companies make different lines in China after building their brand elsewhere I've learned to stay away.

Yes the other items are made in France, as has been stated when they build a brand then move the factory to China for me it is a pass and I love the designed in France, or California that they tout!

I've bought both 7qt and 4qt round cocettes from this sale in the past. One there was a small bubble on the outside finish and the other has a small indentation on the inside, but they both cook perfectly. I would buy again for sure.

Thanks, any preference on shape or size? I was looking at the 5 qt range. It seems like it's the common general purpose size. Is 7 too big?
4-7qt is pretty standard, and really comes down to preference and what you're cooking. Just be aware that the $150 5qt that's on sale is a narrow profile/tall version: it has the same footprint as the 4qt, but is just 1qt "taller". (It's nearly 3/4" taller than the 5.5qt with more "traditional" proportions.) The taller walled dutch ovens are usually better for soups, chowders, and deep frying, while the shorter ones are generally preferred for braising and shallow frying.
I have been able to find the defect but it has been a bump or defect in the coloring in a small spot not involving the inside or the seal of the lid. Much like getting a scratch and dent PC with a tiny scratch on the Dell logo, on a Dell PC.
worth it for sure but I have 2 different sizes right now if I buy the smaller one my wife will hit me with it.
The different sizes are nice as you usually want to have it filled to a certain level. Like a slow cooker if the pot is too big it will not cook as well and too full does not work either.

FWIW Le Creuset does this too. I have several Staub and Le Creuset ceramic pieces that have held up with no problems for years now.
