That's a great deal. Pre-covid prices were 60 bucks for this, post-covid i'm usually around 120.

Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of $120 prices too. I saw Amazon had the same wire for about $106 with free shipping. So, this deal is better if you can pick it up. Or you have to figure out which is better after you add the shipping for this one. I went with this one because Blain's Farm & Fleet has a really good deal on carbon wrap water filters that I use so this worked out better for me, even with shipping.

Thanks for the deal, I would be in for one roll but with no store close by and $14 shipping it's the same as anywhere else.

Isn't NEC 12/2 for new builds and retrofitting these days?

It used to be that you could run 14/2 on a 15a breaker but someone recently told me that it's 10a now.

Probably confused with copper clad aluminum. That has lower current rating for same awg. I still haven't seen that in real life, neither installed nor at HD or Lowes.

I am planning to finish my basement. Thought of doing myself.

When SHOULD I absolutely get an electrician in these works? I would like to give whole work but i cant afford at present times. But like to see which one I should be giving out than messing.

14/2 or 14/3 is still common for dedicated 15a circuits such as lighting.

It's hard to say. But I fix a lot of home owner DIY so we joke that DIY is extra job security because it's always messed up.

But I totally understand it is expensive to hire people too, I just know that even when people think they are doing a good install 10/10 times it's bad and not to code.

At the very least if you DIY pull a permit, nothing bad will happen if you do and the inspector can at least look everything over for you.

And absolutely don't forget to add AFCI/GFCI breakers, it's code now and it's extra security if you mess up.

But still overcharge covid pricing on materials(and labor) Peace
...and do a crap job.

Licensed Electrician (hired by a GC) to do a light relocation.

Just like every field of work, we all know the bad ones. There are a lot of people really bad at their job in the world.
Chances are the GC you worked for was also bad and hired the cheapest electrician on top of it.

I recommend working with reputable contractors.

Also are you sure they were a licensed electrician?
I know quite a few in my area in CT that send out apprentices, and I'm sure you didn't ask to see their license.

And lastly I ask, if electricians overcharge so much, then you must know a lot of really rich electricians?
Didn't think so.
