I haven't compared the -10sw and -100sw directly but I have used the -10SW, -12SW and -120SW (and tried the -100sw, which sounded fine, I just wanted the 12")..
There is a very noticeable difference to me between the -12SW and -120SW (the -12SW is much muddier and "loose" while the -120SW has a much tighter, punchy feel to it).
The -10SW doesn't seem to have that same 'muddy' feel as the -12SW, which is interesting, so I'm not sure how much of an improvement you'll find in the -100SW, but I would assume there is something there.
The -100sw/-120sw are newer models of the -10sw and -20sw.
TLDR: the 10/100/120 all seem to perform pretty well whereas the 12sw is the one that gave me the most trouble. This is with 2 of them in my setup, both behaving identically to eachother.
(Using them for a home theater setup and music listening. I found that the -120SW and 10SW let me get much more enjoyable bass out of both, while I had to keep the gain on my -12sw's very low so that it doesn't ruin it)

I got this in January for this price, Amazon ended up matching Adorama eventually. I have been very happy with it and have zero complaints, I upgraded from a Jamo 808 that had gotten the death thump.

I want to pull the trigger but I'd be replacing the 8 inch sub that came with the reference theater pack. Would this be too much for that set? I'd eventually like to get floor standing speakers and upgrade.

That BIC is a significant step up from the Klipsch. There is also a cheaper version of the BIC called the F12, that is also a smaller step up from the klipsch. But if you're in that price bracket I'd be looking at the SVS PB-1000/2000, or SB-1000/2000 if you want a sealed boxed for tighter music reproduction. The SVS models with have better Low Hz production including sub 20hz in the ported models. Klipsch makes decent stuff, but you are up-paying for the name, and their stuff is always "on-sale" to create that "I'm getting a deal" feeling that persuades people to buy things.
This is not my personal knowledge/experience, but rather opinions I have found from a lot of people on A/V forums. So do with it what you will.
