I did this deal for $40 out of door about 2 months and it was front paged then. Still waiting for the total 180 days but $40 for a free phone was pretty good. The phone is not like flagship phone but pretty decent. Phone itself is definitely worth at least $100 (without going thru hassles).

I suspect it's because it's not a new deal. I recall seeing this the last time I visited Metro's website. I could be wrong, though. I can confirm this phone does tend to go in and out of stock.

You're paying $200 at minimum for basic phone and 6 months service. The phone can't really be used on another carrier and is worthless for trade-in. Mint Mobile had the Pixel 7 and 1 year of service for $300. Metro deals are not good anymore.

Because the LTE/5G bands are specific to T-Mobile. There are 'some' compatible bands for ATT. The experience on another carrier would be limited. Also VoLTE and WiFi calling will probably not work since ATT white-lists devices. Forget about Verizon.

Mine unlocked on exactly the 180th day. When I tried on day 179 it did not work. However, now that I have an unlocked phone, I tried to use my mint mobile sim and it keeps disconnecting from the carrier and going into emergency mode. If I go into network settings it says unlocked and I can now see tmobile, verizon, etc. For mint mobile it automatically selects, but when I reboot it will be disconnected and it only connects to the carrier when it feels like it. I don;t think there is a way to select mint mobile manually. Could it be that the unlock may take a while to kick in? Is there a better setting I should try? Has anyone else had this problem?
