I own this light. Sadly, there is no plugin option. I'd pay good money just for a stinking AC adapter to get that feature.

Good news is, the 5.0ah batteries last a loooooong time on this thing. I use mine for car repairs all the time, and I have batteries that have collected over the years as I've gotten more tools. Even the basic charger should be able to recharge a 2nd battery long before the one you're using runs out - unless you've got it max brightness. Of course if you only have one battery, you don't have that option.

You got me there, because I have no idea what a craftsman tripod is. Though I am 99% sure that by "tripod mount" they're talking about the photography-standard 3/8" or 1/4" threads.
This light either has a hole that goes directly on top of the tripod instead of the head, or it has the 1/4" thread just like cameras that mount on top of the head.

Either way, I'm boycotting this product until they make it a hybrid. If Ryobi can do it, then Ego is just being greedy.

As far as build quality, flexibility, and brightness, and battery life, I have yet to find its equal. It can even charge USB devices, which is probably important for many users. You're probably right about the tripod. I'm going to do some more research and testing to find one I like. Thanks for the ideas on that.

As for the non-hybrid option, you're exactly right. That's my biggest gripe. They will lose MANY contractor sales simply because they can't just plug it into their jobiste generator and let it run constantly. Some work crews rotate 24/7. Not having a plugin option is a huge limiting factor. And the simple home hobbyist isn't likely to spend this kind of money on a shop light.

Is it a pro grade product or not??

By craftsman tripod, I meant Craftsman the brand. it was just a universal tripod for shop lights.

I've never had battery issues with any of my batteries or tools. I own the self propelled mower, the 580 CFM handheld blower, the multi-head with trimmer and edger, and the 16" chainsaw. I don't even have battery issues with the off-brand 5.0ah battery I bought off Amazon, so far...

The omission of a shop vac is interesting. I would definitely love them to make a powerful one of those. I've used Kobalt and Ryobi lithium yard tools before, but ended up sticking with Ego because I've liked them the best. Nothing wrong with Ryobi or Kobalt, Ego is just my favorite. They've capitalized on that, though, and they definitely price to reflect their quality.

I only have the battery discharge during the winter months. We have really cold winters in Idaho, but all my batteries have that issue, not just Ego. My tool batteries, car batteries, 4 wheeler batteries, etc. They all struggle in winter here.

BY DESIGN, if you don't use a charged Ego battery within 30 days it will put itself into a discharge mode and will drop down to 30% within minutes, making itself and everything around it extremely hot. Absurd and bizarre were my very first thoughts when I'd learned of that "feature." And I still feel that way several years later.

This significantly extends the life of lithium batteries. Storing lithium batteries at 100% will degrade the effective capacity much quicker than if they are stored at 30%. Note though that storing them at 0% is even worse, so make sure they have some charge.

I hear ya. I'd like more control over my batteries too. However, it is what it is. They made that feature for the reason I mentioned and don't exactly hide its existence.

I was favorable until I checked fakespot. It quoted reviews saying no battery, expensive battery purchase, on 35 hours of use if battery set for low, runs hot, etc. It seems the marketing of the product does not meet my expectations. Pass.

For those of us who are all-in on EGO, this is a decent deal. Lots of us already have multiple batteries and charger(s). I'd rather stick in the same line vs getting other battery products.
