does this one hover? i built myself a fpv drone and it was impossible to fly
Yes, it does. The DJI FPV Drone Combo is equipped with all the same sensors you'd associate with a flying camera style drone turned on – GPS, altitude, attitude, etc – so that when you power up then let go of the controller the drone will just hover
Screw that, all the reviews I'm seeing on Geek Squad refurbished items is enough for me to stay away from this deal. $550 is a lot of money to gamble with for me.

This is a decent price for this drone, but if you want to get serious into FPV, you'll need to buy more batteries, and eventually you'll just need to buy or build your own quad. These DJI quads are notorious for completely breaking apart in minor crashes. There's a reason the traditional freestyle and racing drones are made out of carbon fiber.
That being said, these goggles are still excellent and are compatible with future personal builds if you stick with the DJI transmission system (Caddx units or DJI Air Units), so the investment isn't lost. This will also be easier to fly than most freestyle drones given it does have that extra added level of consumer support in the form of GPS lock/hovering abilities. Might be worth buying just to act as a good bridge between traditional flight simulators and a real quad.

Nope, got one a few months ago (December? last time it was posted?) and it looked perfect. I was just missing the battery and some important/proprietary cable (I think it was for said battery to the headset). Regardless, packed it back up and took it to a store immediately and they fought me tooth and nail accusing me of stealing parts and such. The manager finally caved when I called my credit card company in front of him to start a charge back. Never again. I would only buy this if you pick up in store and open in front of them.

Yeah sorry your experience was so poor. That's why I made sure to mention it in the note in the post. It seems like around a third of people have a good experience.
A few years ago I bought a camera and same thing. It was missing the battery and lens cap and the manager wanted to give me ~$100 less for my returning it and I told them I was returning it because it was missing those items (when it said on the box it included everything). The only way they would accept the return was if I bought another one while there.
