The cheapest I ever saw the previous revision (non-Stealth version) NEW was $600 from Amazon from time to time.
If you don't mind lightly used, I'll see a pair of these (and/or the previous revision) pass through Head-Fi's classifieds for $400 to $450 about once a month.
Very unique sound. Super wide soundstage that also has "height" to it. Very large earcups that leak a lot of sound (clearly, since they're open back). My favorite pair of open back headphones. A lot of reviewers say the stealth revision improved the original in multiple ways.
EDIT: just found a used one with less than 10 hours of use for $435.

I own these cans and have nothing but good things to say about them. Only minor gripe I had was with the included wires as the plastic/rubber coating felt stiff/awkward. Quick remedy with a visit to ArticCable though . Anyone looking to jump into hifi at a low price point I would recommend grabbing these and a Schiit stack.
If the diaphragm is so ridiculously thin now, at 1-2 microns, then how delicate is it? Would blowing on it, or wearing it outside on a slightly windy day, be enough to damage it?

Can't say for sure, but hifiman is notorious for quality control issues.
Own a pair of Ananda OG (non-stealth) and they're the favorite of mine. Don't touch my Senn HD-6XX's much anymore. I would imagine these are slightly better in several regards over the OG model.

Can't cosign the schiit recommendation, scratchy pot issues on my amp plagued me to no end, you can get a chi-fi amp for the same price (if you even need an amp). Personally a big fan of my Topping L50.
You stand to gain a lot more from configuring a peace/equalizer apo profile (oratory1990 as a baseline) properly than spending $100 on a DAC and then another $100 on an amplifier.
