These are great watches for this price. I have a regular 6 sapphire and love it. Had it for almost 6 months and no complaints. Buttons over a touchscreen is a great design, especially if you plan on doing anything active. It still gets regular updates from Garmin and the phone and PC apps work great. My only complaint is the charging cable is short. But I snagged a set of two for under ten bucks so that problem was an easy fix.

The band it comes with is incredibly comfortable but I do recommend snagging some aftermarket bands or straps off AliExpress or some other Chinese direct manufacturer if you want to add a little pizzazz to it.

Glass type depends on your usage. I use mine for boating and Gorilla Glass is better for me. Saphire is harder but more brittle and having a high polish, is overly glarey on the water. Gorilla glass is still very hard and is tougher. It holds up better to more day to day knocking around which is inherent in boating. Sunlight and reflection off the water can be brutal . The lower polish on the Gorilla Glass makes it easier to read in the bright sunlight. Also, all the movement on a boat makes a touch screen very difficult to use making push button the wise choice. Just because saphire is more expensive and considered an upgrade, glass choice really depends on your intended usage.

I go hiking often & trail running. Usually use an apple watch but it blows . Sometimes my time outdoors out runs the watch. Time for an upgrade soon.

Anyone recommend this? I was looking into Coros as well. Anyone have a preference between the two?

For anything outdoors one can't beat the fenix, esp at this price range. Battery is a big plus, I don't worry ever about it. Series 7 is nice but not at this price and features wise, just be happy with the complexity of this one.

Seeing some conflicting opinions about warranty, despite the storefront saying they're an authorized dealer … any concerns with BuyDig/Garmin?

Been using this exact model 2.5 years for ultras. Can't beat this price. Sapphire is key. Battery life greater than 30hrs with active gps in a race. Casual use with 1-2 hrs of activity a day using gps at least 10-14 days.

Garmin support is second to none. They will help you with almost anything.

Just thought I'd comment. I bought both the 6X sapphire and the 6 Solar from Buydig a few days ago through this deal on eBay.

I'm keeping the 6X and returning the 6 Solar. I honestly thought the 6X would be comically funny on me. It was not. The size difference is not that big especially if you are a large person.

I'm 6' 1" with just under 8 inch wrists and they both looked fine. After wearing the 6X and switching back to the 6, the 6 actually looked too small.

The color scheme on the 6X is better (carbon gray and black band) and works across a range of settings for me (from outdoor hikes to professional settings). The sapphire and DLC coating add additional peace of mind that I won't be wearing a scuffed up watch in my professional settings and that it looks great long term in general. The extra week (or more depending on usage) of battery life was also a huge plus. I love the big screen and seeing everything clearly on this compared to the 6. I also did not see a big difference in terms of lighting/contrast issues with the Sapphire compared to the Gorilla glass. They look nearly the same. So many blogs/reviews make a big deal regarding increased glossiness of the sapphire in light as well as it being dimmer in general. It really is not that big of a difference. Go for the sapphire, hands down, great readability and safe from scratches (which also affects readability of the gorilla glass long-term).

Anyways really happy with the purchase. Thanks OP!

Did you all get a shipping confirmation pretty quickly? I ordered on the afternoon of 4/5 and it's still showing that it hasn't shipped yet.

Looks like a good deal. Currently wearing an old Garmin 230 and have been debating between an Apple Watch or a new Garmin. This looks like a good option but it looks huge in some of the pics. Trying to figure out how much more noticeable a 51mm circular watch is going to be on my wrist vs the 45mm I'm currently rocking.

grabbed one, never used an smart watch before, but this looks excellent, and been able to use it as just an watch and charge it once in 2 months - something you can not do with an apple watch..

also i love that is very big and rugged looking, a feature not a bug IMO

Got mine yesterday. Man, this thing is slick. The vitals tracking features are pretty handy. The sleep tracking is spooky accurate. Didn't know I needed this watch, probably would have paid full price.

My biggest complaint and the thing that will keep me away from buying another until they change this design flaw, is the charging connector. .
For my Fenix 5, I bought an after market charger (online, I can't remember where) that has a round plastic base on it. The connection is much more secure on this than the stock charging cable that doesn't have the base.

So i bought one, been liking it a lot. Read a bunch of reviews and forums saying that Apple Watch is more accurate tracking (heart, gps, oxygen etc etc). So I bought a series 8. To me, it seems he exact same. I know these things depend on person, skin color thickness etc but am I losing my mind is the elevate 3 sensor just as good as AW?

Playing kick ball today it got a little sweaty, and it is heavy so it started to slip.

I got the AW for 290 so I don't care which one I keep. I am far from an athlete but new baby on way and motivated to improve health. Also, I like not charging so much.

How is sleep tracking on this vs fitbit and AW Ultra?

Why is Solar cheaper? I would rather get solar watch? Any comments on why?

Also I have not owned one of these before. I had an instinct Solar in the past. I hated that there were no preloaded maps and I had to plan every trip.

Does this come with preloaded maps and easy to navigate to a point of interest on an impromptu trip with minimal planning? I like to be spontaneous.
"I would rather get solar watch?"

That seems more like a statement than a question. But if you ARE asking us, how are we supposed to know what you would rather have?
