I have one for my back patio (battery stick-up.) if you can hard-wire it DO IT! The battery one is pretty good.. but there's a longer delay in the recording starting. I'll bet if I ran to your porch to grab a package it would (glitchy) record my back as I run away. The hard wired cams are more responsive since they are "always on" and is probably what you are looking for.
In short- I would not use the battery stick up in this manner only if you can hard wire it.

There's a segment on 60 minutes where they talk about how Ring will give footage to authorities without your permission if you store footage on there servers. Just FYI, it's on YT.

I guess you have to subscribe a certain way or a certain plan because I have the $3/mth plan for my Ring doorbell and I don't see any discount when checking out.

Ahhh! That's the missing link. I had bought & installed my device without enabling that feature. Other than the discount and Alexa integration, do you know of any other enhancements that are available thru Amazon linkage?

I was able to select and check out with a Black Camera. Easier to hide in shadows, or interior book case

How well would something like this work for your front door? The location of my doorbell and a grab bar next to it mean a doorbell cam wouldn't work well for me. I want something I can set up on the porch so I can look at a live view to see who's out there if I hear something, and that would record automatically if someone stole a package off my porch or tried to break in.
