The battery stick up cam was honestly trash from day one, always slow to connect if it even connected at all. It finally just died a month ago and I am done with Ring for cameras now. Unfortunately I have two batteries for it that are useless now. The Blink outdoor cameras were kind of cheap trash but they always connected, they died too or the hub died, not sure, not worth my time to figure it out. My Wyze cams have been stellar though, night vision is top notch.
If your batteries are still good, just sell them on ebay or marketplace. I think they normally go for around $30+ new. Having backup batteries is great for people sticking with Ring, that way one is always charged.

Woot also has these cameras for $45. It is version 3 though, but they have been great for me. I don't know the difference between the OP and the 3rd version though. Here's the link:

https://electronics.woot.com/plus..._crum_2_wp [woot.com]

I have at least 10 of these from Woot and they have all been great! I had one that was a refurb that had an issue, but after talking with Ring, they replaced it with a brand new one. I also keep a spare battery so I just swap it out whenever one dies. The batteries take about 8 hours to charge. I also picked up a solar panel $20 on Woot for one of them and that has been great so far. I don't have any complaints about the cameras. I also had the Wyze cameras, but they seemed to have to constantly update, so the Ring have been better for me. Just my experience. But I won't pay full price, I'll get the Woot deals or the refurbs since Ring stands behind them.
under technical details says: "GenerationRing Stick Up Cam Plug-In – 3rd Generation (2019 release)" so same 3rd gen. probably just trade ins on woot.

How well would something like this work for your front door? The location of my doorbell and a grab bar next to it mean a doorbell cam wouldn't work well for me. I want something I can set up on the porch so I can look at a live view to see who's out there if I hear something, and that would record automatically if someone stole a package off my porch or tried to break in.
These would definitely work. I have one just like that on my side door. When the camera catches motion, it will send an alert to your phone and it automatically starts recording both audio and video, in day and night.

I've also been using these flexible twist mounts lately to hold up my cameras. It is a firm, flexible rubber thing that can wrap around items instead of mounting the camera to the structure. You could use them on your grab bar if you want. They wrap around the bar, and then just screw into the back of the camera. I used one of them on a gutter downspout recently and they stay in place.

Good luck!

Seems like a plan because they are useless to me now.

Thanks! I like the idea of the flexible thing, but if I wrapped it around the grab bar, it would render the grab bar useless. In general a cool idea, though.

This! If you don't care about your privacy then go with Ring
Yep.

I bought an NVR and PoE cameras from Reolink. No need to pay for monitoring, and there are options to send alerts to email, etc. Gives you a lot more control over your privacy. You can also add wifi cameras.
But Reolink requires a little more tech ability I think (not a huge amount more).

I have a number of these including 2 doorbells. These work well but you really need them to be plugged in for "realtime" functionality. In order to save battery, the cameras make some compromises with regards to alerts and such. I also have one cam outside that has the Ring solar panel that has worked well.

Picked up 2. While I feel a bit big brother about having cameras, they certainly do have a place and have helped me in the past. I have helped neighbors check on activity, but more often than not, I use them to check on the dogs and weather at the house when I am away. Can confirm the Ring Protect discount is applied in the cart.

Wow, just checked out the price of the Pan/Tilt bundle. Normally the pan/tilt mount is a $45 add-on with no discounts available. They have the Stick Up plus Pan/Tilt mount for $89, which is a steal. I've never seen the pan/tilt combo below $100.

I was able to select and check out with a Black Camera. Easier to hide in shadows, or interior book case
Why do you want it hidden? On my house I prefer them to see all my cameras from the sidewalk...lol

I have a wall outlet on my covered porch, I could possibly plug it into that (if it wouldn't be affected by weather). There would be a noticeable cord leading to it, though.

Has anyone installed the battery version but pair it with a solar option (either from Ring or third-party)? I wnat to install these for the sides of the house. Or should I go with the Ring Spotlight Cam/Cam Plus instead?

Folks flip houses, they are not as obvious when people walk through the houses, get great notes on what people like/hate on the houses. We actually caught people stealing the staged knickknacks off coffee tables or shelves.
