I follow Lego very closely and wait for sales on some of the big sets. The ones you see in Target are typically about to be retired or are sets like $50 or less.

This set hitting 30% is very, very uncommon.

I don't think so. This Is just under 30% -- often these sets don't get much of a discount at all.

The Super Mario line Itself doesn't seem to do as well as Lego wanted because those smaller sets are often 20-40% off close to retirement, but I don't remember the NES ever going on sale, and it's been out longer.

If you look at various sets, they go on sale regularly. Target has sales on all kinds of stuff at least once per month. I think there is like an every other week "30% off on select sets" that usually has some combination of pretty much everything, though obviously restrictions apply based on the individual sales.

Ahh. That is fair. I thought you meant in general, Lego Mario was doing poorly. It seems to be doing solid given it keeps growing.

I will say there are a few sets that dropped recently-ish - Bowser, Black Panther, Hulk Buster to name a few - were panned as the overpriced as soon as that info was given. Watch YouTube reviewers or some of the websites that talk reveals. I have been a Mario fan since we were born the same year. I'm have the NES and the N64 block. I have no interest in this Bowser set unless it is quite cheap . I don't care about a $/brick comparison, I just think a bit of the non-Bowser parts are useless and the Lego Bowsers in the sets are fairly big as is.

Very true last set I bought they shipped it in the box, but this is store pick up only as far as I can tell.
