New firmware was released last week to address the failure health degradation issues with this drive. Make sure to update your firmware as soon as you install to prevent the failure issue.

Samsung ALREADY fixed it though. That is what the firmware update is for. Now if you are waiting for all the ones being sold to come with that firmware, good luck with that.

It's not overkill from a reliability (TBW value is always higher for higher capacity drives) perspective. Also, generally speaking, 2TB currently is the sweet spot for performance because all the parallel channels will have memory chips to access.

For my boot drive I have a 2TB drive. For my 2TB boot drive, I partition 1TB for the OS and I use the remaining 1TB of space for Game Pass installs.

So my laptop uses pcie gen 3 nvme m.2, and I know this is backwards compatible, and being that it's only about $10 more than the Evo Plus, are there any benefits to this one I'll get over getting the Evo Plus?
