I miss the days before they changed the composition of these. They used to be soft, durable, thick, and nearly reusable. The last roll I used was not much of an upgrade from standard paper towels.

You said 4.99 per 56 sheets. That works out to be a little under a penny and a half a pop, and could fairly be rounded down to .01.

In my Slickdeals book there's a significant difference between a penny and a penny and a half. Otherwise, why bother with deals here?

Viva's math, too, is skewed. Their Double" and "Triple" rolls are neither double, nor tipple the original 56 sheets. They are 104 and 156 sheets, respectively. The new math is great.

This. I suspected I got the wrong ones. Just checked, the new ones are in fact abrasive, thinner, and mine fall apart with hot water.
