Total 3DP noob here, but would like to get into it. What is the main difference with the CR-6 SE (compared to the other others you listed)? Would you recommend the CR-6 over the others you've used?

I have a several hundred dollar budget, just would like to buy "the right one" first...

The CR-6 SE had growing pains, including a few that smoked. I can't say it's truly any better than the others. It is priced around the same as the Ender 3 S1. The S1 has a direct drive extruder that allows for print more materials.

The only unique feature of the CR-6 SE is that it has no mechanical bed-leveling knobs. It has a sensor in the nozzle itself (they have a strain gage that can tell when the nozzle touches the bed) and thus they just measure the bed's levelness (or lack thereof) and adjust each area accordingly.

Other than that, assuming the fixed the early production issues, it's a fine printer for someone with no experience. Now, I just buy what is cheapest because I know how to fine tune each one, but the CR-6 SE was the first one I had that just worked right out of the box, yet you can get two of the 'low-end' printers for the same price.

I put one in my cart and started the checkout process but bailed to think about it. 15 minutes later Creality sent an aggressive email:

So this isn't the official Creality store. Should I be worried if this is going to be a knockoff?

Honestly for your first roll, it doesn't really matter. You can do PLA or PLA+, whatever brand/color you want, as long as the filament is dry, it won't really matter. You'll be learning the basics of the printer with this roll, so there's no need to spend $30+ on something fancy, any $15-20 roll will do.

Initially I'd avoid silk PLA or any PLA that has fillers/additives like wood, fibers, or glow-in-the-dark. I haven't used the Creality filament but I haven't heard anything bad about it. I personally use either GST, Hatchbox or Polymaker.
I disagree with this statement. I'd buy something good, like Hatchbox for your first spool and use it to get your machine dialed in. If you start with some cheap, junky filament, you may be trying to solve problems caused by crappy filament, when your printer setup may be fine.

I've got the S1 Pro and it has nice features, but I can't get the darn thing to print as well as the $100 Anet printer I bought a couple years ago as my first printer. The first layer on my prints has spaces and gaps that never fill in.
Have you tried the 3D printing groups on FB? They seem pretty knowledgeable when it comes to troubleshooting.

This thread is a gold mine for 3DP noobs like me! I narrowed it down to Ender and just needed confirmation from real-world users (not many around me have or use 3D printers!)

Based on what I've read from all of you: looks like I'll take the S1 with glass bed.

Use cases (not exhaustive):
- custom cable management (non-standard angles) (side note: I don't want to drill into the wall to hide cables since I'm constantly tinkering with layouts)
- parent-child quality time: one of my kiddos is making custom jewelry and would like to use her own figurines and we'd learn how to use the machine and learning techniques
- another kiddo is totally into board games and we'd like to create our own figurines for our custom games.

Yes. So far I haven't had any replies to my issue and pictures on the Facebook group. Maybe I just got a bum unit.

I bought the NEO V2 from them last Black Friday and had no issues. The NEO V2 is a good starting point, and in my experience, stories about constantly fixing Creality printers are overblown. It has been a smooth ride so far.

Thinking about going with the Ender-3 S1 Plus (want to maximize the print area).

Looks like the offer a 10% "bundle deal" where you can get 2kg of filament and an enclosure for $496.

Is the enclosure considered a good purchase or not really needed?

Among these, which one is the most first timer friendly?
S1, but these prices aren't anything special

I have an Ender, and love it…except the customer service is abysmal. I've emailed CS multiple times about an issue (under warranty), and after several weeks, haven't heard back. Just be aware.

I would avoid Bambu like the plague.
Can you please explain why? Genuinely curious. Blanket statements with no further info is not very helpful.

I bought it and the s1 for 270... But you have a MC one near and I drove 10 hours... I will pay for shipping and higher prices next time.
