Why are SSDs slashing in value and going on sale? Is there something new on the horizon?

Does this need heat sink to perform well in the PS5?

Yes heatsink is a requirement. But I recommend spending a little more for 2TB.

Thanks. At Samsung the 2TB w/ heat sink is $309.99. Amazon doesn't appear to sell it with heat sink. Not much of a deal anymore… even with the $20 off.

You don't need to go with a 990 for the PS5. 980 is fine: https://www.amazon.com/Electronic...B09JHKSNNG

Non-heatsink: https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-In...08RK2SR23/
You can buy your own heatsink for $10 or so.

Dumb question: Didn't Ps5 already comes with 1TB hard drive? Why swapping it with another 1TB?

667gb usable, and you would be adding it not replacing the current.

Almost half of the 1TB is used for the operating system.

The PS5 doesn't come with 1 TB. It comes with a weird, 825GB SSD.
Which comes out to about 667GB usable like strayninja had stated.
