contrasted to the X2, imo the X3 has the better high-end (altho slightly sibilant) and works well for analytical listening, with great attention-to-detail and clarity. soundstage is similar (the series being known for their wide soundstage).
bass is very lacking with much to be desired. i can't help but wish more were there when listening, and i don't consider myself a bass head. considering the X2 had amazing sub-bass for an open-back. that said, the bass is clean.
for build: both are designed well, durable, built to last, and comfortable.
if you're used to more-common consumer headphones, it will take time to adjust to these
if you go into it knowing what you want and what to expect, i think one would be happy getting them
It reproduces a lot of detail so better electronics will probably sound even better, but not like some competitors (Sennheiser HD 650 -300 ohms or the recently $99 AKG K612 -120 ohms) whose high resistances do not work so well without an amp.

The sound quality and comfort was good. I already owned the Sennheiser 660s which is why I did not keep these. Also, quick tip, the Audeze LCD-1 cable is shorter and the cheapest way I found to get an after market cable.

Movie watching with the X2 is great because the slight lack of bass means the loud action scenes won't destroy your ears. I use it also for gaming for the same reason. Everything else like listening on my PC or my phone, I use Spotify's equalizer settings and bump up the 2 low ends 50% and 25% respectively, and give it a touch higher on the high end for a V shaped sound. It sounds amazing once you bump the bass. Death Stranding's OST is a prime example of how much you can push these headphones with the bass bumped.
I have a pair of Sony XM'3s and honestly, these sound way better considering its a clean sound but also open/ wider soundstage.

For the sound, the X3 has much better vocals and treble, but less bass. It also doesn't clamp as hard compared to the X2. Honestly speaking having owned the X1, X2, and X3 if you have the X2 skip this as the sound quality isn't that much of a difference.
