FYI - while this is definitely cheaper than the regular price, The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine (which pretty much never goes on sale for some reason), and Enterprise were all $29.99 last year on iTunes. So if you're not itching to have them right now, they could go quite a bit lower. The Original Series was also $29.99 during that deal, so this beats it by $5 if you're looking to grab that one.

Vudu also has the shows for the same price.

I bought the Star Trek 10-movie bundle (all in HD) a few years ago on iTunes. They upgraded the first 6 (TOS) movies to 4K last year. Just checked AppleTV now, and the other 4 (TNG) movies have been upgraded to 4K too for me.

I noticed that when Apple sells bundles, they may be listed as HD, but the movies in the bundle will be 4K (if they exist) because they give you the highest quality that they have assuming they are the same edition. Vudu does not do this. Whatever quality they show for the bundle is what you get.

Looks like same prices on Vudu. Thinking about snagging Voyager.

Curious about this as well. The bundle only says HD. Clicking on the individual movies in the bundle each shows 4K Dolby Vision. The 4K versions of the TNG films were just released today.

This is a good deal if you had been waiting on a price drop like I have. TNG on Vudu is showing $59.99 for me though.

And the 10 movie bundle is $34.99 right now, so for folks who might not have any of the movies on iTunes or who want 4K, that's the way to go if you want them all.

however, buying on vudu reduces the value
There's no real "value" to a digital purchase beyond the value an individual places on that purchase since there's no possibility of selling the item. There's no value that can be reduced beyond someone no longer wanting to watch something. I can access Vudu purchases on more devices than I can access iTunes purchases, so Vudu is generally more valuable for me when we're not talking about Movies Anywhere eligible items.

I do prefer iTunes/Apple TV better as a platform when using Apple devices, which is why I have multiple copies of some shows on both iTunes and Vudu. But since purchases through iTunes are not available on all devices, I'll take a slightly inferior platform to actually be able to watch the content.

Oh when I clicked through earlier, even the individual ones didn't say 4k. I'll have to check again!

Update: Just checked again and still no 4k for individual movies - maybe because it's taking my device into account - iPhone 12 Pro max - which I thought could do 4k?

Update 2: Ah yep on the Mac (in apple tv app) it shows 4k, I'm in!

Unfortunately, Apple's TOS box set features the season 2 episodes in maximum 720p resolution (as opposed to 1080p for the other seasons). I've complained about it before but no change so far.

This is exactly right.
You can watch Vudu on anything with a web browser and the right DRM support but that can't be said of iTunes/Apple TV purchases.
