I can't comment on the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2...but overall, I like the A10's more than any other headset I have tried under $100, and I've tried MANY. It just sounds better - more balanced, fuller, etc. - and the spatial sound (footsteps behind you, above you, etc) all work pretty well somehow, even though it's not a surround sound headset.

Highly recommend these.
