You will be hard pressed to find a better deal on a gaming laptop. This has the best specs/quality for the price/performance. Breezes through most titles.
Side note, I extended my warranty for super cheap. The Legion Ultimate Support (many get 1 year included) is the best around for the price. You can add another year for around $50 I think. use code REMOTE10 for 10% off. It shows up in the Vantage software. For me, this was just piece of mind. Never had a hiccup though to be honest.
No, it is really not. Katana is MSI's budget lineup and has far inferior build quality, extremely poor display and lowered power Graphics card. The deal at $1299 is actually worse than this.

Nice machine, have a slightly different config with more RAM. I will say I ran into problems with the wifi/bluetooth mediatek card (crashed to reboot) randomly . When adding a secondary drive (2tb sn850x fits/works great), I swapped out that mediatek one for an intel one and no issues since. It is a bit of a pain in the ass to open up, which helps with structural integrity, but a bit tricky to open.

Good info! I heard the intel version doesn't have the wifi problem. Do you have the AMD or Intel?

AMD, like the one in this deal. I've observed the same thing while researching the issue on various places. It is about $20 for the intel card, but honestly the worst part is opening up the notebook. You can ride with the mediatek one more than likely, but even stuff like a fresh install of Windows 11 won't recognize it. It is fine once the driver is installed from the Lenovo web site, but just another inconvenience.

Does a 16 inch laptop need a qhd screen..I see a lot of 3070ti with qhd
Does it need it? No. However, once you're up to the 3070 and up, you have more power to push a better resolution.
IMO, as long as it can still rock a high framerate, you can choose between resolution and framerates based on preferences. Pretty well balanced... 165Hz and 2K hits that balance perfectly
man i am on the fence between this vs Alienware M18 (double the price i know) but these 2 laptop has almost everything i need, QHD screen with numbpad and not super in your face RGB
i love alienware warranty support but screen at 300nit and its 18 inch
i love lenovo for solid build not sure if this is the same 500nit screen just 2 inch smaller
wonder if they both can be recharge by USB-C? not for gaming but for doing excel/web browsing

1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (data transfer, Power Delivery 135W, DisplayPort 1.4)
this one also has thunder bolt 3/4 if that means anything to u, the newer refresh with the 4070 and 4060 do not

Ah yeah it just feels kinda bad having to spend over 1k and to replace the wifi card haha. Not sure if that voids the warranty too? If it can be fixed by driver then I'm all down for it! Good price regardless.

I picked up the Intel build about a month ago and think it's a solid machine - currently using mine as a dev PC and casual gaming PC.
Build is solid - has a premium feel to it.
It's smoking fast - burns through everything I throw at it.
I'm pretty impressed with portability. The battery life for regular use is better than my Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2, which really blew my mind. It's also not as heavy as I expected - while not exactly a feather, it doesn't feel significantly heavier than my Thinkpad.
I opted to perform a couple of upgrades, which were about as easy as can be - with the exception that getting the bottom panel off was a bit more work than usual because it's so nicely fitted (used a guitar pick as a pry). RAM install of 32GB (2x16GB) was straight forward. Installing a larger M2 HD was also easy - and I like that it has 2 slots, so now I have 2 internal drives.
At this time, my main gripes are:
- The power brick is a BRICK - you could bludgeon someone with this thing. I opted to pick up a 'slim' 230w on eBay for about $50 as my travel power supply to shave off some weight/size, but it also is not particularly small/light.
- There's no 'Hello' supported hardware. This somewhat surprised me as every PC I've bought for the last several years has had either a good enough webcam or a built in fingerprint reader. As a workaround, I bought one of the $15 dongles that's been advertised on here several times recently - works well enough for my purposes.

I recently bought an open box G15 for $1K but it hasn't been delivered yet. Wondering if the Lenovo is worth the extra $300.
