Buying the caster kit for the cabinet made ship to home no charge for me, fyi.
i have 4 of the 5-drawer heavy duty cabinets (2 extra wide, 2 regular). i highly recommend the caster kit [homedepot.com] for those. i had my sets shipped to the local HD and then delivered from the store. my drawers all came in good shape. few small dents on a couple of the standing and hanging cabinets, but no serious damage.
I've bought a couple of the U.S. General pieces from Harbor Freight and they are tanks. Definitely better built than the comparable Craftsman/Husky chests.

I brought the 4-piece Pto set last time for $1250 . The 3-piece is an awesome deal for $1000.
Be careful, both of my cabinets had dents on the bottom of the doors. I called customer service and got $150 off rather than ship me new doors.

Are these just marked up? I've been looking for something to store tools and the 5 drawer cabinet is getting my attention. I was thinking of going with a harbor freight 5 drawer tool cart which is around 260 but this looks more solid. Wish chase had home depot as a 5% category, it's only lowes Frown

Thanks for the advice on the caster kit. This is perfect timing. I was literally looking at mobile tool chests all week but most of the good ones that were cheap were OOS. I could convert this one into a mobile tool chest (5 drawer system). in for 1!

I had bought 1 of the 4 piece kits last month at this price but cancelled it when I read the cabinet drawer can no longer be moved and there are only 2 shelves in it. Additional shelves are pricey and hard to come by and if you can't relocated the drawer = lots of unused space.

FYI the cabinet drawer can be moved and does not have to be used with a shelf on the top of it. and yes only 2 shelves, but I just made some plywood shelves with a piece of hardwood front face and rear and they work great no flex.

To give my 2 cents, the 5 drawer is a bit disappointing. it is built well and has soft close drawer glides but, they are not full extension drawer glides so you loose acceptability to the back 4". Additionally i believe its because of the design for the clock mechanism, it sacrifices usable space (height) for the top 2 drawers. even though those drawers are 3" deep you can only use 1.5"ish of that depth because of the way they choose to design it.

I have the husky 61" 15 drawer tool box and I absolutely love it, but these 5 drawer base cabinets are not the same quality.

I understand they used to be and have seen pictures of owners doing so, but new reviews say you can no longer move the drawer. I tried to get confirmation from Husky, but I got 2 different answers. One reviewer said he called them and was told the cabinet has been "improved" and the drawer's location is now fixed.

Edit. I just spoke with Husky and was told they redesigned the drawer slides and it can no longer be moved.

For the Pro Duty version of the tall cabinet that I received a few weeks ago, not only can you move the top drawer to other positions, but the manual states that you should remove it prior to moving and installing the entire cabinet since it makes the cabinet top heavy.

I have the 62" 14 drawer tool chest and that says 440 lb. We took all the drawers out and the caster wheels off (those are like 8 - 10lb each) and it still was stupidly heavy. Took me and a relatively strong friend to slide/guide it into the basement. Where it's either going to remain or I'll hire movers to get it back out.

There is a big difference between the light duty, heavy duty, and professional series of these things. After playing with all those on display I decided heavy duty would work. The light just seemed to flimsy and the professional, while definitely the sturdiest, was overkill for me.

It's because they add about 60lbs of weights to the bottom to keep it from tipping over.

I removed the weights from the bottom and it made it much easier to move around. I use them in a work bench with a bench top, so no concerns about them tipping over for me.
