I really dislike the description "mechanical like keys".

Why's that? If i's anything like the Razer Ornata with the mecha-membrane keys, then the description is accurate. I like it more than my true mechanical BlackWidow V3. In fact, I like it so much, I just picked up an Ornata V2 to replace my BlackWidow at home. Point is, don't knock it until you try it.

EDIT: It actually says Mecha-Membrane Switches in the description, so yes, that description is completely accurate.

I think the criticism is aimed more at the marketing than the keyboard itself. "Mecha membrane" is touted as some kind of best of both worlds hybrid, but the membrane side of the equation doesn't have any advantages except being cheaper than a mechanical switch.

And spill-proof(!)... which at lower price points is always a giveaway that the underlying keyboard construction is a membrane design.

Good luck!

I bought the same for the office (the Ornata), and no...while the description is accurate, it can't hold a candle to an actual mechanical keyboard IMO. I have a Huntsman V2 at home, and the difference is night and day. And not in favor of the Ornata either.

honestly, after investing in a brown keyswitch board
i now realize most are over rated.
yes, the keyswitch itself may last forever
but if the maker uses cheap plastic for the caps
then the early point of failure will be the brittle plastic cap stems
that are slamming into that keyswitch every type you make.

on conclusion, mechanical keyboards are are all a bunch of BS.
This may be the most naive thing I've ever read on here, and I've read a lot of bullshit. 🤣🤣🤣

Get yourself a real one from Razer, before you spout this nonsense.

It actually is the best of both worlds, since it's all completely subjective, so we're both right!

The mecha-membrane is great for typing, and quiet enough for the office and online meetings. True mechanical is better for gaming, and other things that don't require a lot of typing.

Except "mechanical-like" is not the same as "mechanical". My BlackWidow is just as mechanical as your Huntsman, and my Ornata V1 & V2 are both "mechanical-like", so the description remains accurate. While not "clicky" mechanical, they are definitely "like", not exactly the same as, but close, to linear mechanical.

The point of failure in your scenario is user not keyboard.

Almost all mechanical switches have replacement keycaps available for cheap.

One of the big benefits of mechanical keyboards is that you don't have to bottom out the keys to type, unlike a membrane keyboard. This helps reduce wrist strain and carpal tunnel problems.
