I absolutely love building PCs, just built a sick 13600k/7900xt/tempest compact rig. I also know you are here to help people make the most of their money and I agree the system you spec'd is fantastic, possibly exactly what I would build at this price point. But I don't think it is realistic to tell people they "might as well" build their own system from scrach if they are looking for a prebuilt. I used to tell people it is like legos and not that hard but there is legit problem solving/technical knowledge needed to build and it isn't always as easy as watching a video and knocking it out.

For example, Thermal past application and CPU cooler install is actually pretty imposing, a youtube video will help a lot but there is a real risk of bent pins and performance risk of improper installation. Will most people be fine? Yep, but is there real risk to someone who just wanted a $1,600 system? Absolutely, especially for a first time ever build.

Also, the ram you listed (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5) isn't listed as compatible with the mobo you listed. In most cases will they both work? yep, will it possibly limit the ram speed? yep. But if it doesn't work correctly, diagnosing that is difficult and fixing requires returning within 30 days at most retailers. And that isn't something most people even know to check or how. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherbo...ort-memsup

And newegg was listed for most of your parts, they have a history of bad customer service and limited support for open parts, not always, but sometimes. Not having a unified system warranty can also be a big deal and requires a ton more technical knowledge to diagnose and work with various OEMs for support if needed.

And I would personally include at least $25 for a semi legit windows key. Can you run windows without a key, yes with limitations that aren't on a prebuilt. Can you risk malware to get it free? yep. Can you get a $5-10 defo improperly used windows 10 key from ebay and upgrade to 11? Yes with some risk microsoft will revoke it and with time that you wouldn't have to spend on a prebuilt. But as someone who spent a lot of time, including on very suspicious bot reddit threds, trying to find an affordable legit copy, it is a bit disingenuous to leave it out entirely.

So risk, extra technical knowledge and an extra $50 for a system that will push mildly better frams in the shorterm but with better long term potential. I know I'd pick the self build but I don't think it is for everyone, certainly not the default choice.

People are saying this deal is bad because it is last gen CPU and GPU, but the problem is that you can't really find equivalent for less right now (this build uses all good parts, no proprietary garbage like the Alienware build from a few weeks ago). Also, an equivalent build with a 4080 and 13th gen CPU are running around $2500 right now.

Please, I beg of you, post these so called better deals that are to be had. Not claiming this one is super duper, but it is pretty good for what has been available.

I have built a number of PCs, starting with an AMD Athlon years ago. I enjoy fixing PCs and reformatting. But that doesn't mean I will force it down other people's throat. Time is money -- searching for good deals on parts, assembly, trouble shooting if it doesn't boot, installing an OS, getting latest drivers, etc can take several hours, which can negate cost savings. People mention how you can have longer warranties on individual parts, but you may not know (or want to spend the time to figure out) which part is causing problems, so having a general warranty for the entire system can save more time. People talk about the quality of parts, but it can be pretty random what fails and when.

I am also surprised that people are calling a 3080 with 12th gen i7 and 32gb of DDR5 outdated. I have been using the same rig for 5.5 years (Alienware I got from Dell outlet for about $1100 with a 7th gen i7 and 1080 ti, along with a 27" 1440p IPS with 150hz and gsync) and it still performs very well for 1440p gaming. And it was far cheaper than buying the components individually. Granted the 1080 ti has 12gb of vram vs 10gb in 3080, but I am sure the 3080 would still destroy it. I am guessing my rig will last me a decade before it needs an upgrade, and I suspect the same is true of this machine (esp with DLSS), unless your goal is something unrealistic like 4k gaming at high refresh and ultra graphics settings in a AAA game.

I usually bash on pre-built systems, but this one looks decent with a decent price tag.

*I just watched a review on it. Looks solid!

I feel the 3080 is ridiculously overpriced, but if you feel it's worth that, don't care about getting a pre-built, and need a PC now then go for it.

I think any thread with this much engagement and back and forth on Slickdeals tells me this is at least not a bad deal.

For what it's worth, I'm not knowledgeable but I've been shopping for a gaming desktop and the only thing I've seen recently that beats this in terms of performance per dollar spent was a refurbished MSI Aegis RS 12TE-257US with similar specs. Twice as much storage but only a 750 watt PSU. That was $1529 on woot, but again, refurbished and dubious reviews about airflow.

This is a solid price.

Those saying "outdated", no shit.

If you're not constantly purchasing or building your own PC every couple months you are outdated.

The goobers who bought the 4000 cards will be outdated in few months time.

Stupid reasoning.

Good deal for relatively future proof mobo/chipset (longer upgrade path for the time being)

Once upon a time b&h would leave the taxes up to you to pay at the end of year... would have been a great deal back then.
If you use their credit card, they credit the tax. For some people living in a high tax city, that could be another $160+ in savings.

Seems pricey If you like to play the latest AAA games. You'll probably be looking to upgrade the 3080 within a year of owning this due to the 10gb of vram not being enough for 1440p and up.

Edit: sigh smh 😂, I guarantee you if you buy anything with a 3080 10gb to play the latest games you'll be looking to swap that overpriced card out within a year because of vram issues.
How much you wanna bet?

This is a good price, I would just add another SSD as 512 is not that much for games.
It has another 1tb for game storage
