The original game was super long… I ended up taking a break that lasted 20 years. It's a good game tho.

If you have PS+, check to see if you already own this. This was a free game back in March 2021. And I believe the PS+ the free version gets the Intergrade upgrades (but not the intermission DLC).

That is correct. However, the Intermission DLC is on PS+ Extra.

I played the original at 12 years old and recently finished the original again in my 30s. This remake is really good and brought back the nostalgia of the original. It's incredible how much the graphics improved in the last 20+ years. The remake is worth playing.

The original FF7 was a religious experience for me and remains one of my favorite games of all time.
I was somewhat disappointed in the remake, at first. The exploration is very limited and predictable -- long, eventless corridor leads to an open area where a battle takes place, repeat ad nauseum. Despite that, seeing Midgar from this new, high res perspective is really something special. And after a certain point, the combat system "clicked" for me and I began to love this game. Thus far, it's the only PS5 game I own that I've bothered to complete more than once.

If you want the true experience of this classic game with a modern feel, try the OG version on PC with the Satsuki Yatoshi mod. Absolutely unbelievable. Everything has been AI upscaled, yet retains the charm of the original. Many options such as ambient sound effects, translucent menus and 60fps which is stunning for those of us who played this game back in '97.

If you have the sub service, it's included.
I unfortunately never got to this one. I waited for the PC version but then they released it in a buggy state at 70$ on the Epic store. I was like no thanks and forgot all about the game.

I recently got a PS5 though and plan to get to this one but playing persona 5 and spiderman atm. Probably plan to the new GOW too then might hit this upSmilie

The original game is a 40 hour long game released 20+ years ago- which was on 3 discs. For the remake, they decided to split it up due to development time/costs so Remake is just part 1 of 3 and basically covers the original's disc 1.

They made Remake a lot longer so it's actually not just 1/3 of the original story- Remake by itself took me 40 hours to finish (plus I did a lot of the side quests so in total, spent 60 hrs). There's a lot of new content and areas to explore, some of it good (flushing out story more for some side-characters, new areas), some of standard filler material (fetch-quests, stretching out some areas make them longer), and some of it...debatable (story changes).

FF7 Rebirth is part 2, that's coming late this year but prob more likely to be early next year.
