Is this the OS? I have a laptop from my previous job that the IT guy put a copy of the then current OS on it but approx a year ago I got a popup message that my OS was a unlicensed copy or something to that effect, therefore, rendering it unusable.
Yes, that is the OS license. Your previous job had a Volume License Agreement where they pay a yearly licensing fee based the number of installations they have. When they upgraded, that old key expired. This would work for you. You might have to reinstall or "upgrade" from your Enterprise version of Windows. a

If I wanted to go gray market, any suggestions on the more "reliable" gray market sources?

It is sort of free but there is a catch.

A machine which came with Windows 7 won't be able to run Windows 11. You could go from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for free for years. Now, there are still some loop holes to let you upgrade with W7 to W10.

When W11 rolled out, all computers with eligible hardware got W11 for free. W11 has fairly recent hardware cut offs. At launch, only CPUs released in the prior couple years were okay for W11.

IMHO, the audience who buys these keys likely are people who build their own PCs or people who are still on W7 and missed their chance(s) to get the free upgrade(s).
Just a heads up that those with Windows 7 keys (or 8/8.1/10) can still (legitimately) use them to install Windows 10 or 11 with a fresh install. In-place upgrades are a different story.

With MS pushing ads and news in Windows 11 and Edge, they should be paying folks to use their OS - not the other way 😡

You can disable the ads pretty easy: https://www.windowscentral.com/so...windows-11

I jumped on this. Just started building a new computer and had so many issues last year with a G2A key that I will risk it with wootazon. The woot boards don't mention anything about people having issues with keys.

Not Windows 😂
Yeah, why would you go with the most supported mainstream operating system? What silliness.

Check the previous thread when this was sold, but most likely these are still grey market keys. Price is still suspiciously lower than anything Microsoft would allow to be sold via retail and many third-party vendors (like the StackSocial ones) are selling volume keys against TOS. They'll still most likely work, but you can also find grey market keys cheaper than this.

Go with the latest. IIRC Windows 10 upgrade to 11 is free. Starting with 11you don't need to upgrade.

This is false.

Quite a few recent reviews said the key doesn't activate.

Depends on your computer. Not all can run windows 11. That being said, you can buy a windows key for under $30

Is this an OEM key or the legit full retail license?
I got this last time it was on woot. Mine was a retail key, but others got oem keys. Still others got invalid keys. So it is somewhat of a crap shoot.
