Amazon users use, unknown conditions.
Do not accept returns for any reason.
According to our experience, 90% works out of the box

A 2.5w or 5.5w laser might work for engraving on paper. This isn't enough to do much, especially more dense materials. 10w is barely enough for most things. 40w is closer to a minimum acceptable starting laser.

Wow.... for a diode laser... 40w is the current max power and the laser head alone will run you over $1000.
5w will engrave anything except stainless and with an air assist will cut 1/4" plywood.
5w is plenty for most hobbyists. 10w would be good for 90% of users.

I checked into these and they are rated at 20w output and 40 watt output, so they would be fine.

I am used to seeing the output power advertised, so advertising these as 2.5 or 5.5 output power would make them unusable. At 20 and 40 they are functional.
