ummm car insurance has so many variables.... age, driving history, claims history, vehicle garaged location, throwing up stats from some site does not tell the true story of these factors

If only the quality of these cars were better...
I'm glad other manufacturers are coming along.
Although, it's frightening to see how they are getting the materials for these electric vehicles.

Model S and X plaid are now only $104,990. That's a hell of a lot of car for the $.
yes and no.
Just think how much the resale value has dropped for a model s plaid for people who bought last year.... Would you want to risk it ?
I'm not talking about it as an investment. At some point you want to sell it and get something else. And at the current rate, that model S plaid might a crap load cheaper a year from now.

Why people keep saying 50k is avg price for a car
Because it literally is?

Obviously SOME cost less... just as SOME cost more-- that's what an average is.

I'm very much enjoying the comments here, all in the comfort of my ultra-luxe Audi e-Tron while charging at 150 kW in a warm San Diego afternoon. Keep 'em coming!
Maybe while sitting there you can look at trading in for a tesla that is both higher performance and charges at 250 Kw LMAO

Funny thread; most posts are in one of two categories: 1) Clueless Tesla haters breathlessly spewing misinformation. 2) reasoned responses to #1 from Tesla owners setting the record straight (or at least pointing out the BS).

The Tesla hate always comes from people with no knowledge of Tesla other than what media, funded by legacy auto/energy $, has told them. This is why it's always the same talking points that instantly are debunked every time.

GM with their 2 deliveries of Hummer EV last quarter prompted Tesla to immediately drop prices last night.

I bought a Tesla and most Tesla buyers don't tell the truth about EVs. YouTubers say only good things about them and they don't tell the truth.EVs are really fun to drive and faster than any other vehicle I drove. Technology is good too. But, 1. Phantom drain 1-5% battery drain per day just like any smartphone. You don't lose gas when an ice vehicle is parked. This is really bad when you forget to charge and you park your car at the airport or family or friend's home, where every mile counts. If you use sentry mode, you can lose 10+% per day. 2. Glass top really gets hot and you need to have the AC running while the EV is parked, which uses the battery a lot. 3. In the winter, the battery loses the range a lot. 4. You will have the charger connected all the time because of 1 2 and 3. Once you buy an EV, you will know. So, is it really saving money when it's plugged in all the time? And super charger is expensive.. same price as gasoline. 5. When you travel with an EV, expect to add at least 1 hr time to 3-4 hr trip for charging and getting to the charger. If you really want an EV, buy also an ICE vehicle.

I've had my Tesla for 5 years. 75k miles.

It doesn't loose 1-5% a day sitting there. Was at the airport for 5 days and lost 1%. Turn off sentry and cabin overheat.

Speaking of overheat protection, it's not necessary, it's for comfort. I've never used it and there are no issues with my interior.

For the little bit of extra time I spend on a road trip I save much more time never going to a gas station and charging at home.

Why people keep saying 50k is avg price for a car, my prius prime was 32K. Here are some other cars you can buy for 32k that are reliable, great on gas, cheap to insure and wont take 30 mins to charge.

Toyota Rav4
Toyota Corolla
Honda Accord
Honda CRV
Mazda, etc…
50K is the new 25k.

What's weird is that I ordered a MY LR at the end of January, and they changed my delivery date from march to april/may. Not sure what's up with the long wait

I like tesla's, almost bought one. 2 things stopped me from getting one. 1. the resale value, i would definitely trade this in after 5-10 years. 2. Toyota called me and offered me a chance to buy a GR Corolla Morizo edition. Now it sits in my garage bc the last morizo sold for 100k in auction.
you own one of the 200 morizo ever made?
