Can an order be cancelled and put a new one in? Lose out on $250, but still $1,750 lower after losing $250. Anyone do this yet?
If haven't taken delivery, the price will auto adjust to the lower price.

Lived in Texas my whole life and the storm in 2021 is the only time I remember losing power for more than an hour. Think your source may be exaggerating a bit.

Sure, if you have $48,000 in cash laying around and can buy next week. I personally would go with the bolt. It's almost $20k cheaper and pretty much the same car.

You must have not driven either of them to make this comparison.

I mean, 50k seems like the average price for a new car now, have you been to a Jeep lot recently? I couldn't find anything less than 55k and most were 60k+, seems like most car makers are focusing on expensive vehicles and are only interested in raising prices.

#protip don't buy a jeep. Jeep anything. Unless you'll be ready to replace it in 2 years

I thought people hated Elon Musk. Why yall still buying his cars?

Or is the internet just a bunch of phonies?
Love EV's. Have driven a Chevy Volt for 10 years now and it's amazing, even though not fully electric. Thought I wanted a Tesla, but glad I found out in the past year what Musk really is. Never going to buy one of his cars.

That said, I'd love the F-150 Lightning, but between Ford's massive price hikes and their farking greedy ass dealers and their bullshit dealer markups, they can go to hell too. Going to keep plugging away with my Volt for now.

I like to haggle, not pay a retail price.
Why do you prefer paying a useless middleman dealer who is going to have to mark up the MFG cost with extra $ for himself, then give "some" of that markup back for "haggling" just so he can waste your time arguing about the price?

Bolt only costs $1000/year to insure and Tesla costs $5000/year to insure.

Definitely not true I pay $740/year for model 3SR

Applause

Even in your article:

Quote :
Unlike in February 2021, when Winter Storm Uri caused the state's power grid to nearly collapse, this storm caused more localized power outages, including in urban areas such as Dallas and Austin. Ice from the storm broke tree branches, pulled down power lines and in some cases felled entire trees.
Roughly 30 million people in Texas. I am sure you can find articles with people losing some power due to damage from all kinds of weather/natural disaster/vandalism/accidents/etc. These events are not a failure of the system, like what the storm in 2021 showed us.

This is off topic though.

This price drop just brings the Model Y back to what it was after the initial drop in February. The $50k version is using the 4680 pack and the drop in range is not worth the $2k savings.

Your discretion on both sides is refreshing. Thanks.

I just had to edit design and accept the new price. Hopefully it doesn't kick me out of the line since I placed the order on 2/4.

Owning a tesla was easy when everyone was making over 150k a year in an economy fueled by low interest rates.

With all of these layoffs going around in big techs, pretty sure the demand is softening for a 50k electric cars
But not everyone is making over 150k / year or lives in a place where you have to make that either. The left coast is so toast, but it's been toast for at least 30 years already so let's see what else comes over that way to help keep it super inflated.

This is all assuming you're on the left coast. Maybe you're in another bubble.

and 40m in CA. I obviously wasn't talking about the entire state unless you think California's entire power routinely goes out as much as all the others that continually post it (like OP I referred to). Yes, recent ice storms nowhere near as bad as the ice storm mere years ago that killed hundreds of Texans. What CA power outage in recent history directly contributed to hundreds of deaths? CA grid is fine. 🙂

Just wanted to suggest anyone in the market for a Tesla also check the inventory link on the Tesla site and check their used inventory. Lowering the prices on the new cars also caused the used cars to be lower so you can technically get a used long range for less than a new standard model. Prices will vary by area no doubt, but just an example here ----> https://www.tesla.com/m3/order/5Y...o#overview

It's not pretty much the same car when Tesla has documented fit and finish issues to this day and it's only gotten worse.

Whoever wants to get Tesla, first test drive, sit on the passenger seat, sit on the back seat and have it drive in bumpy roads. It's a great fast car but if you are expecting luxury quality it's not for you. In Model Y, you can hear the road noise and everything shakes if you are concrete road. So I wouldn't jump in it before trying and testing everything.
I am with you, never liked drive of any electric car - tesla model 3, vw id5 or hyundai ioniq 5.
