I own a Tesla and am a shareholder. I wouldn't get either of them right now if you can buy in cash. I wouldn't get a Bolt period because I'd have to deal with dealerships again, and as a former Leaf owner, EV dealerships are no better than others. I much prefer the Tesla/Rivian/Lucid model.
As the Fed continues to raise interest rates (unemployment risks be damned), financing will continue to get more expensive, which will make all car brands (except maybe Porsche and the like) lower prices or offer incentives. Tesla has the biggest economies of scale in EVs (most factories, most vertically integrated, biggest retained earnings pile of cash to weather downturn, biggest market cap to afford to issue more stock) and don't have a dealership network to sap profits. So you can count on more reductions unless inflation reaches 3% asap, or Powell keels over and we get someone who cares about the unemployment side of the Fed's dual mandate as much as propping up the market.
You sound like me before I actually purchase and own a Model Y Performance. Now I am never going back to any other EV/ICE car. I also had the Hyundai Ioniq 5 for a week due to the Tesla getting PPF/Tint, Tesla beat this car in every day of enjoyment.. Lets just said once you go Tesla you will never go back to any other car.

It has less weight coming from former employees. There have been at least 2 cases of employees making up news for short sellers and later losing court cases. That said, I wouldn't be surprised as I've worked as a data analyst and this sort of thing goes on at lots of companies. Tesla cars do require you to opt-IN to provide video recordings (and the in-cabin camera is on a different permission, so you can split them up) so it's a choice.

Somewhat also agree, as a Leafx3 former owner and now a Tesla owner. Only issue is that cars last a long time, so a lot fewer would want to upgrade from 50 mpg to 130 MPGe. Sounds impressive, but the savings aren't. But the impact on the environment is huge over the life of the car. If we could eliminate the demand for gas for all but heavy machinery, suddenly the entire distribution network can be greatly reduced.
It's not the greatest at the moment while we're in the exponential growth phase, but you can already see from Tesla's latest investor day that they're fairly close to being able to achieve mass market cost parity with ICE. It seems after Cybertruck they will be able to compete at the low end. I'd say late 2020s. They've had a 60-70% CAGR all the way from ~2018 50-60k cars/yr to now (1 M run rate iirc) and project that out to 2030, they'd surpass Toyota before then. You can't do that without cars that compete on the low end (Corolla, RAV4, etc).
Yes, i guess so are just so above all of us, huh, not caring what kind of car you drive at all. Good for you.
Edit: I am not crazy about the looks of a Tesla either. I get it, it's polarizing. There are some people who love it and some who don't. But at least it's not a Bolt. Don't get me wrong, a Bolt has its place and purpose. A good-looking stylish car, it is NOT. I think every non-Bolt owner (and probably many Bolt owners) will agree to that. I think if you are in a professional building parking lot, being seen walking out of a Bolt would be downright an embarrassment. Ok, some of you are above looks and materialism, good for you. The rest of the world doesn't operate that way. You can potentially find the president of a company drive a Tesla, but you are not going to find one driving a Bolt. Not the president of a real company with 50+ employees (unless he/she is so big and rich he is doing it just to prove a point like Bill Gates). Let's be real hear.
Comparing a Bolt to a Tesla has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They both have their merits and their weak points, but they are COMPLETELY different types of cars for different target audiences. It's like comparing a Bolt to a golf cart. Both do their jobs well, just meant for different purposes. So stop with the stupid comparisons.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Yep, they don't call it the "Tesla smile" and the "Tesla stretch" for nothing. My previous cars were Acclaim (mom's lol), Accord (13 years), Mazda 3 (used), Leaf (2 leases and 1 used purchase). I'd driven Porsches at track days and test driven a lot of nice cars, but Tesla was the first I had to own. Model 3 LR AWD with FSD. 2x as much. Bought 2018 and I still love it. Gets better with every update.

All other versions of the Model 3 are still expected to retain the full $7500 credit, as their batteries are made in Nevada.
