Which is why they will keep losing market share.

https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-m...utomotive/ [teslarati.com]

Teslas US market share in Q1 2023 rose 1.4% (double the gain of any other brand). Toyota LOST 2% market share.

BTW, Toyota engineers recently took apart a Model Y and were so massively impressed they called it "a work of art"

https://www.drive.com.au/news/toy...rt-report/ [com.au]

The story cites the teardown as being potentially a wakeup call for just how far behind Toyota has fallen

Of course you can. Easily (though it'll take some time)

If you'd like a detailed plan on how to do that and replacing all the other fossil fuel garbage while you're at it, here's some reading I'm 1000% sure you won't do:

https://www.tesla.com/ns_videos/T...Part-3.pdf [tesla.com]

Which continues to be irrelevant since 99% of EV charging is done at home.

Fast charging is useful primarily for road trips- and Teslas network is excellent there.

99% of the US population lives within 1/3 to 1/2 their cars range from one or more superchargers.

Roughly 2/3rds of the US population lives in detached single-family homes where they can charge.

So when EV market share gets north of 60% the "lack of chargers" will be more of an issue-- but since that's years away, and we're already seeing apartments and workplaces moving toward offering charging, it's probably not going to be a roadblock then either.

Except I specifically said 120Hz. So no that's not $1500 now and not going to $999 by black friday.

That specific FUD was just debunked like 2 pages ago. EV batteries are almost 100% recycled because it's profitable to do that. There's billions being spent to expand recycling facilities right here in the US for exactly that purpose. Try and keep up my dude.
A Toyota insider reportedly told industry journal Automotive News the Tesla had been purchased in an attempt to discover the US electric-car giant's 'technological secrets', though engineers were left surprised at how advanced the Model Y was under its bodywork.
"Taking the skin off the (Tesla) Model Y, it was truly a work of art," a Toyota executive told Automotive News. "It's unbelievable."

This is literally the oldest trick in the propaganda book. "An insider claims X is happening"...

No names means they can make up whatever the eff they want.

I can't believe you still are falling for this. I don't trust you though, you're posting a lot of links from Tesla, pro-Tesla sources, like who are you fooling? Nice try.

It's not based on politics or engine sounds, LOL. When you see multiple Youtubers experiencing serious issues with their EVs, even the PRO-EV fanboys, something is wrong. Things that require them to get their cars towed or finding a charging station at the last second. That's ridiculous. Or charging at a dodgy station in the middle of nowhere at slow speeds. Or waiting in line.

I mean, it would be one thing if most EV fanboys were realistic and vetted these things and were upfront about the shortcomings of these things. But they're not. It's a cult. You're either supporting EVs or you're the enemy. Dare raise any concerns about EVs? Your opinion doesn't matter, you're a boomer, you're the bad guy, BANNED.

I love it though when I read on EV message boards about people coming into buy an electric car and being treated badly by the salesman. It's still fringe. If I were still in high school, I'd be an EV fanboy. You have all the time in the world. You can make finding a charger an adventure, read a book or play games while your car charges. Impress the girls. As an adult? my time is limited, I have things to do, money is tight. I don't have mom, dad or friends to give me rides or borrow their car if mine can't be driven. The lack of proper vetting of EVs will be its downfall and it will be hilarious to see.

I think you're painting with a pretty broad brush here. I mean, just because a few YouTubers are having issues with their EVs doesn't mean the whole thing is a disaster. And yeah, waiting in line or finding a charging station can be a pain, but it's not like it's impossible. There are plenty of resources out there to help you plan your route and find charging stations, so it's not like you're flying blind.
And as for the whole "EV fanboy" thing, I think you're being a little unfair. Sure, there are definitely people out there who are overly enthusiastic about EVs and don't want to hear any criticism, but that's true of any group. There are plenty of reasonable people out there who recognize the limitations of EVs and are still excited about them.
Plus, I think you're overlooking some of the benefits of EVs. Yeah, they can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but they're also better for the environment and can save you money in the long run. And as for the whole "adventure" thing, hey, some people are into that! It's not for everyone, but if you're the kind of person who likes exploring and trying new things, finding charging stations can be a fun challenge.

You're just copy and pasting from the company folder now and it's shameless.

Hey, what's your deal, man? You really think I'm just copy and pasting from the Tesla company folder? That's a pretty bold accusation, don't you think? First of all, I'm not just copy and pasting. And even if I did take some inspiration from the company folder, is that really such a big deal? It's not like I'm plagiarizing or anything. And as for the term "shameless", that's a bit harsh, don't you think? I take pride in my work and always strive to do my best. So why don't you take a chill pill and appreciate the hard work that I'm putting in instead of trying to bring me down with your negativity?

...whose propaganda?

What do dozens of media outlets have to gain by reporting this story-- which Toyota has not in any way denied, if it's not accurate?

Tesla- somewhat famously- spends $0 on advertising and media, so it's not like all these news outlets would have any financial reason to make it up.

So the question then becomes what's YOUR financial incentive to have posted dozens of easily debunked anti-EV FUD posts in this thread?

You seem to have that reaction to everyone who provides you actual facts.

Weird.

I'd suggest the same reading I suggested to the other guy-
https://www.tesla.com/ns_videos/T...Part-3.pdf
If you want to delude yourself that mining is not a disaster worsening to make yourself feel better OK. That doesn't make it untrue though. As for Tesla's research, it's a great step forward but ultimately it's a plan and with all plans room for FUBAR and unknowns. Right now earth metals are still required for batteries and electronics. And mining is no more environmentally friendly than extracting oil, refining it, and burning it.

Okay, hold up. Are you seriously trying to accuse him of falling for propaganda tricks? First of all, I don't appreciate the insinuation that they are some kind of naive fool who can't see through these tactics.
And as for the sources theyre using, what's wrong with using pro-Tesla sources? They're a reputable company and have plenty of experts who know what they're talking about. It's not like they are sources that are blatantly biased or unreliable.
it seems like you might be the one falling for some propaganda tricks here.

No, facts make it untrue.

I mean, not that there's no impact-- just that an economy based on it is cleaner than one based on fossil fuels extraction, transport, refining, and burning.

Again- it factually IS more environmentally friendly.

But if you don't like the last source explaining this here's another

https://citizensclimatelobby.org/...sil-fuels/

Quote :
fossil fuels require much more mining and drilling than clean energy technologies. Today the world mines 8 billion tons of coal every year, whereas the clean energy transition is estimated to require around 3.5 billion tons of minerals in total over the next three decades

It cites studies from Rice university among others with findings- including mining for rare earths- that renewables are still multiple times cleaner and less destructive than fossil fuels for the same amount of energy produced.

That's BEFORE including the environmental impact of CONSUMING each type of energy which is obviously vastly worse for FFs.

Ideally you'll try and read up on some facts instead of just calling people you disagree with deluded by them.

Consider the lithium market price trend, will see Tesla go at least 25-30% lower to remain competitive in Chinese market. Which probably equals 20% in US. $39000 would be reasonable for Model Y SR DM 4680 LFP version.

Except, wait....some people might actually care what their car looks like???

Yes, i guess so are just so above all of us, huh, not caring what kind of car you drive at all. Good for you.

Edit: I am not crazy about the looks of a Tesla either. I get it, it's polarizing. There are some people who love it and some who don't. But at least it's not a Bolt. Don't get me wrong, a Bolt has its place and purpose. A good-looking stylish car, it is NOT. I think every non-Bolt owner (and probably many Bolt owners) will agree to that. I think if you are in a professional building parking lot, being seen walking out of a Bolt would be downright an embarrassment. Ok, some of you are above looks and materialism, good for you. The rest of the world doesn't operate that way. You can potentially find the president of a company drive a Tesla, but you are not going to find one driving a Bolt. Not the president of a real company with 50+ employees (unless he/she is so big and rich he is doing it just to prove a point like Bill Gates). Let's be real hear.

Comparing a Bolt to a Tesla has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They both have their merits and their weak points, but they are COMPLETELY different types of cars for different target audiences. It's like comparing a Bolt to a golf cart. Both do their jobs well, just meant for different purposes. So stop with the stupid comparisons.

uh..... what?

My personal favorite is when EV fanboys claim oil is bad because of the wars fought over it.

And I'm like, "you don't think anyone is going to fight wars over EV resources if it takes off?"

SMH. The stupidity is unreal.

Like seriously, I dare you to counter-argue that point.

Dude, how do you compare Tesla and lousy Bolt? Are you nuts? If you said VW, that would've made more sense but Tesla is still superior. I can bring 10 reasons all related to technology but one suffices... BATTERY!
